Good subject, the first SS in some time may have some little glithces, let's hope not. It is a good looking car, but it would be nice to know what's up and maybe some real world #'s on what it will do and how people that have had a GTO and the new SS think of both!

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
May handle a tad bit better than a goat as the gen-5 chassis is an updated version of the GTO.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I read in GMHTP that the gen 5s have rear trailing arms as opposed to the rear "wishbone" style lower arms like on the GTO. There are aftermarket trailing arms in production for the gen 5s even though we can use Harrop covers and drag bags for ours.

But remember, if I recall correctly the gen 5s are heavier than the GTO. So we shall see.

If I remember right a guy had is 2010 2ss dynoed with close to 700 miles and it put out 350ish to the rear wheels but note that the motor isn't even close to be broken in. after the Long tube, cold air and catback it was somewhere 370+ rwhp I may be way off I'll have to listen to the podcast to get the right numbers. and again you are right about the supsen. the people at holden had a hand in it everything is bigger and better. oh and it was an auto.

I saw a couple threads on different sites of people who vid races and such .. their ETs were about average but the Top End speed was crazy .. to me the should show roll out numbers too .. Like 40 to 70 or 60 to 80 .. You know passing speed .. that is what I would really like to see ..
Has anyone actually test drove one , not necessarily a SS , in some reviews they say they are terrible to see out of ....

HP TV put a maggie on a 2010SS this weekend, it was an auto with 400 hp. On the dyno stock it made 335 if I remember right, after the maggie, shortie headers and a cat back 448 rwh, as for the weight I think it is a pig like ours. No I have not driven one, but I see a butt load of them around here, still like the GTO, I don't see myself every other light.

Mark you have done some big weight reductions, I would like to see mine weight 3500, but don't want to take stuff off it. Can't wait for the pics of your build, going to be sweet!!!!!!

I'm hoping to be at about the same weight after this build, 85lbs more for the 404 iron block, but I've deleted the power steering, ABS, T/C/crusie unit and some other things... The engine bay looks so clean big and empty
After this is all finished I'm going to look into trying to lose more weight throughout the car to more than makeup for the cage... Glass, power windows and CD player, door speakers and back seat stay... I want it light as possible, but still take the wifey and kids for a ride

I think we also have to include the 2011 Mustang GT .. I drove a 2010 and its a great car .. Now give that car another 100HP ,prob even more with a CAI and a tune ... Not that I wold get one till they are out for a while , but I would say the same of he SS...
