Looking to buy a GTO
HI all,
I'm new to the site and am looking for some information.
I've owned performance cars in the past and am now without. I am currently looking at purchasing a newer GTO. Are there any issues all of them have or certain years have? Is there anything I should look out for when buying one? Any concerns about them?
Thanks,
Silly Girl.

This may or may not be a little more than your looking for, but here it is.
If your wanting a bone stock car, this may not be your best choice, but if you want a moded car that drives VERY near stock, IMO alot better, this would be worth looking at.

Great cars, but they do have some issues...
Front strut rub is one - where the "wide" front tire rubs on the strut - mostly fixable by alignment changes.
Fuel line chafing from the fuel rail covers is another (I've heard of two fires) - also easily fixed by popping them off.
Other odds and ends exist - electronic issues, etc. - but most don't affect how the car drives. My 2004 VY/VZ Monaro Conversion (1 of 889...)
The other cars:
1996 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible (3.8 V6/4A)
1994 Saturn SC2 (1.9L I4/4A)
1981 Eldorado Diesel <-- slower, but smokier

I would personally look for an 05 or 06. Nice cars. You won't be disappointed in it no matter what year you get.

Yeah, if I had the choice I'd get an 05 or 06.
But still can't go wrong with the 04..
Oh and Welcome to the forum!

Welcome! I love my GTO. It is a comfortable good driving car. Plus, it's a major sleeper.
