Head bolt selection
Hey all,
WOW its been forever since i was last here...Anyways i am gearin up my mods for my new car...YES i am finalizin the deal on my new Car...Will send picks once i get it...I am so puttin the carriage before the horse...
But now i have a question, i will have a LS6 engine and i bought GMs ported heads pn 88958622. i got the pushrods at correct length, no worries there, but the head bolts have me baffled.. The heads are milled 0.055" shorter. I will be using stock head gaskets, and well, i dont know if i stick with the ARP 12 point bolts pn 234-4317, or i look for another set...
I do have a machineshop on call, but i dont want to buy and modify, i rather plug and play...Less complications and less of Murphy's Law...
Lookin forward to your replies

Latest and greatest news...
I found that if you are using head BOLTS this would be an issue, however, these are head STUDS...They will clamp down properly and evenly without issue....
I hope i have helped anyone with a similar enquiry in the future...

Make sure you mock up the headers cause most of the time you have to grind indentions on header flanges or grind down the stud.

Ah, good point....I will test them off the engine, then do the necessary work for them to fit comfortably...

Make yourself enough clearence so the header will move freely back and forth. It will aid in getting all your bolts back in.

What about the power brake booster. Can you install the head with studs and still have clearance. Also, what is the best place, as in price, to buy ARP studs.
