    GTO vs. Trans AM

Hey guys i am new to this site and this is my first post, but i was wondering if i could get some input on this subject. I have recently purchased an 04 GTO of course it has the good ole 5.7 liter LS1 and i have recovered from buying the car yet so i havent been able to do any mods yet. My friend back home has a 01 trans am with exhaust and i was wondering when i get back for christmas break how i will hold up against him.

He will beat you if you are stock just for the fact you are giving up about 500lbs to him.

You're going to have to edge him out in horsepower:weight.

Cam and headers should do it.

REally also depends on drivers, i pull ls2 GTOS, and i ahve just headers exhaust and a lid and ran a 12.8 at 110. The ls1 GTOs I have won from anywhere between 4 and 8 cars.

Hope your a better driver than him, race him in a short distance, and try to get him out of the hole. Thats your best shot... Better be quick with those cogs, and not bump rev limiter...

I would run him just to see where it falls. Might be closer than you think.

I think he'll be the one with the big surprise, especially if he is stock. Doubt that there's any stock F-bodies left though. The LS1 GTOs are vastly underrated. Just make sure your car has been running on premium fuel and not suffering from reduced timing due to lower octane gas. Focus on getting traction and you'll smoke him. Whether you're M6 or A4 is immaterial, unless you're inept at shifting. The car itself is totally capable.

I wouldn't say all that. I think it'll be fairly close with the f-body probably winning. Average on average the f-bodies are a little quicker stock for stock. If it were me I'd run him up top. That's where my 04 seems to run best. 40-100+.
