Dismal Dyno results
Got the GTO dyno'd today. I must say I was a little disappointed.
313.43/315.40 HP/TQ Highest 309.65/312.29 lowest of the 3 pulls peak Hp at 5700. A/F is definately off registering around 10.9 but dang I expected at least 330 from a "400" hp car stock(ish).
Pretty much stock of course gutted mufflers (sure that didn't hurt) and descreaned MAF (was already done). Paper filter. 60,509 miles. Going to replace fuel filter tomorrow and check all the plugs wires. Car doesn't miss any that I can tell but 313 sure seems mighty off.
Only thing I can say is I never realized that from 3200-about 5300 the Torque curve is almost completely flat and followed the 300 line through that whole duration.

wow I had to make sure you had an 05.. those numbers are closer to the LS1. Your AF is whacked.. get a tune, and re dyno.

Looks like your tune is way out of whack.

He is a little off, but not by that much. A stock 364 in good tune only develops about 320-330 to the wheels. A stock 346 puts out 290-305. He also has a slush box (automatic tranny) which also lowers output.

Then he needs some help. But realistically a new tune on that set up may give him an extra 10-15 HP, which of course is worth it. But, there are plenty of goofs out there who think a new CAI and a tune will give them 370 to the wheels. Ha Ha!

Plug wires started to corrode some and the terminals (on the plug) had some too. Plugs looked OK to have 60K on them. Damn Northern car should have guessed that seeing how most of the unpainted parts under the hood have salt corrosion. Especially most of the aluminum bits. Camaro probably won't be running for a while so the MSD wires ended up on the GTO, debating on whether to use the TR55's. Wife said she noticed a difference. I couldn't really tell. Oh well not about to spend another 50$ on a dyno just to see if that worked though.

Black- 2004 GTO
Well, what kind of dyno?....was it a mustang....if so it will read lower than a dynojet...if it was a dynojet then your #'s are low....on a dynojet with cai, LT headers, and exaust it my car was 332rwhp '04 with ls1....IDK if that helps but check that out.

Does not having the MAF screen in there affect anything? I've read the numerous "Leave them be" threads, could that be hurting the car?

Dyno Number
Hey Man,
Remember what they say,, Dyno guy make or break your day
Plus different dynos pull different numbers..
MUSTANG DYNO= Lower numbers
DYNOJET= high numbers
THis is obviously my opinion, but i have seen this with my cars and my friends..

I wouldn't ever de screen the MAF.. Its obviously there for a reason... Every stock 05/06 GTO I saw pull on the dyno (DynoJet) none were below 335 RWHP. My friends bone stock 06 put down 353 rwhp with 1200 miles on it..

So, we are back were we started. If the dyno session was performed on a Mustang Dyno, then a reading of 310 to the wheels is OK.
The bottom line is not what HP dyno shows, but what your ET is. ET is the only true performance measure.

Dynojet. Forgot to mention that. Disappointed in the results but the car still feels alot stronger than my Camaro did stock so I'm not taking it to heart, at least I found out one minor problem and fixed it. As far as calibration goes the guy behind me had a GX3 cam headers, magnaflow catback running fat as well (11 something) and pulled 409 through an M6. Guy behind him with same setup through an auto pulled 380+. Pretty sure mine was off a bit. I'll be looking for a MAF with screen probably too.
