diff between 241s an 317s
I've seen some people with the 317 heads. Are these stock for the ls1? and are these the same as the 241s I have on my 04?

241's are stock for LS1. 317's are stock for my LS2 (6.0L)!!!!
317 heads on a LS1 are pointless unless you plan on boost. They have larger combustion chambers but you will have to mill them down and lose that just to get your compression up for N/A.
If your looking for new heads the LS6 is a better choice for a stock LS1 block.

My LS2 came with 243s, which is what they all came with. The 317s are LQ9/LQ4 heads with either a 70CC or 72CC combustion chamber which are great for FI. So get yourself some 243s if you wanna stay low in price and N/A. Otherwise if you have the coin go with TFS,ETP or AFR and make some big power.

317's are 6.0 truck heads and have a 71cc chamber. LS2's came with 243 heads.

My bad for not clarifying...
243 and 317 are the same casting but there are slight differences. 243 is the GTO and 317 is the trucks.
