craped out radio....
im gettin a cd mech error on my radio when i play a cd... is it done for good or is there an easy fix, my better judgement says its done but i would like to have a second oppionion

I believe once that msg comes up, the radio is no more good. CD player is shot.
You could try to disconnect the negative terminal for a few mins, reconnect and see if you get the same msg.

yea i already gave that a try n still no go, im looking to buy another one but i hear that i would need to go to a dealer and get the radio programed to the car? if this is true would it not work untill programmed? any one have experience on this?

Unless the replacement radio comes with a code card, yes you will have to go to the dealer. You could try eBay and find out if the radios on there come with the code card.

yea i have a local pick-a-part that i can get one for 60 bucks...but i just called my local gm dealer and they said its an hrs worth of work to program it and itl cost 110....fuck that shit....sighh...i hate dealers

If you go aftermarket, you shouldn't have to go to a dealer to have it programmed.

I paid like $25 for the install kit and wire harness and went aftermarket in mine years ago

The only thinly that the amp controls is the rear woofers, and yes they still work.

I say rip it all out and start fresh. Does it have steering wheel controls? You may want to start with the hu, so you can keep those if you already have em.

na it was more of my magic black freind touching it lol, i have no idea i just pushed the button one day and it came back to life, i think a cd just got jammed in there some how
