    cheap brake upgrade?

Looking at the 2011 Camaro rotor (14") I think I'm going to pick a set up and work thrm on the front of the goat for starters....I should be able to side them right on the hub, then make a " dog bone" bracket to move my stock callers out to where they need to be.

$73.99 for front, $69.99 for rear at autozone.

    Any thoughts?

I have to measure everything this weekend, but I'm guessing 11-12"s stock

They must be 12 there is no way they would be smaller than a 98-12 F car.

As Mark said, unfortunately they are!! They are quite a lot thicker than a 98-02 F-body front rotor though, which helps with heat dissipation.

The rears on the '04 GTOs are also non vented solid discs. They are also quite thick, but not suitable for serious track use.

That is why the '05-'06 models got upgraded 12.6" front rotors and vented rear rotors.

For a car that heavy though the stock brake system is still not great, you can get noticeable brake fade when driving hard.

Looking forward to seeing this upgrade, be sure to post pics and keep us updated!! I have a couple friends with GTOs that would be interested in the results!!

What were they thinking in 04?

That car is at least 300-400lbs heavier than the F cars.

Good luck with the swap OP.

Do they make a custom bracket for the caliper?

Yup you can get full on big brake kits, but your looking at over $3,000 for them....I can build one for a couple of hundred

The caliper brackets will be easy to make once I get the rotor on and do some measuring.

I'll be sure to take lots of pics and post them....I'll even lay a tape measure beside the new brackets if anyone wants to copy them
