cars acting up
well its done it before and just did it again today, the temp gauge goes up all the way as if the car is overheating so i pull over and turn off the car and its fine all i did was turn the car off and on and back to normal it was. its done this twice before and today it gave me something new, the tach read like 2000 at idle but the car was realy only like at 800 like normal, what could this be? anyone else have issues like these with there gto? any help would be appreciated since i have no warranty and im not loaded with money

my gauges do crazy shit all the time... my spedometer will go up to 200 when im really at 35mph, it will do this for an hour or so and go back to normal. i usually just say fk it and turn on the digital spedometer. nothing has ever felt or sounded wrong so i have just let it be..

I've seen it ONLY on 04's and it is the cluster. I think there was a TSB on it if I remember correctly.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

TSB= "technical service bulliten". You can check with a dealer to see if there is a TSB out for this problem.

Yes it can get fixed...... By replacing it. Just like GM's problem with all the clusters in the trucks and Avalanches. I have a friend with a 05 and he is on his 3 cluster already..... Technology at it's best!

Well there is a clause of some sort that they say it is different items in the cluster unit.
He tried that and had this shiester attorney called the Wolf and they still got around it.
It is a VERY common problem with the late model GM's.

I have an 04 gto, happened to me only once, I have 17k on mine. S@#t scared me to death. I thought for a moment that my thermostat had stucked. This happened about 9 months ago. Temp went all the way up, then back down to normal.
