Any problems with rear shocks on 06 gto's

Since I joined the 2006 GTO failed front strut club today I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their rear shocks failing? Did they use the same crappy oil in the rear shocks or is it only an issue with the front strut's?

I am aware ( as most of us are) of the issues with the front struts. I am not aware of any issues with the rear shocks however. GM has no Tech Bulletins out after a quick scan. You may Google rear shocks 06 GTO and see what you can find. Are you having issues with them now?

As of now no problems with the rear shocks, what I was wondering is why did they put the thin oil in the front strut's and not in the rear shocks? Why did they change from the heavy oil in the first place, was it to save a few bucks? rice

Who knows. Engineers are trying to build the best and bean counters often times over rule them.

Yeah, my girlfriend's brother had problems. He had a new 06 GTO with 75 miles on it, and within having it less than 24 hours, there was a clunking in the rear.

He took it back, and got it fixed and after he did more research on it he found that other people were having the same problem. He also found some sort of petition where people were claiming it was an issue that GM/Pontiac didn't want to acknowledge.
