Any aftermarket stereos?
What do you have? Is it a improvement? Did you do an amp/speakers with it?

Im looking at the Pioneer FH-P8000BT as a head replacement, for mp3 cd's and bluetooth/satellite/HD Radio capabilities... Did you swap out any speakers, and how hard was the install?

I hear good things about the Kenwood and the Pioneer. If I do this I want a unit that is the larger screen to look as factory as possible. What is it?....like a 4" I think. I would also do the speakers at the same time. I have the wiring diagrams....definetly want to maintain the steering wheel controls and think I have that kitty cat skinned.....

Blue- 2004 Holden Monaro
Pioneer FH-P8000BT
Hi chaps , RickF from the Uk here. I've fitted the european version of pioneer in my Monaro. Great sound and superb iPod interface. However if you're planning to use the bluetooth for your mobile just check that it's compatible. I have an HTC and a motorola V8 and niether work with it. If your phone is pretty basic you'll be ok but smart phones just confuse it!

Anyone have a suggestion on one with green colored lights? That would be awesome if we could keep the factory light color scheme all the way around with an aftermarket HU

I like to leave the stock deck Sarge for the sticky finger AssHoles out there.
I just run Super CLEAN AudioPhile amps on the stock speakers and add a sub or two and it's more than enough. Unless you are trying to add video you would be amazed at what the stock speakers are capable of with CLEAN power and a properly adjusted X-Over.
That my 2 cents I haven't used power from a deck to power speakers in probably 15-16 years.
You can get VERY nice clean AMERICAN power on Ebay ALL day for cheaper than the Jap junk new at Best Buy or Circuit City.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Whoa that Pioneer is sweet. One thing I've been wondering though, can these units play MP3's from a DVD?
Kinda a sidebar, but does anyone know how I can find out the factory codes for the security system? I bought my GTO used and dont know if I have the card anywhere.
Hahaa...found it. Still, it would be good to know for those people who lose their cards, or dont get one when buying used.Last edited by PatrizioD; 11-01-2008 at 12:07 PM. Reason: Found the card!
