Well IMHO it is all about fit as both will deliver the same RWHP results.....
So fit and finish is the decision to make.....I would however use a dryflow filter like AEM or Amsoil versus the oiled cone filter.

I just installed a Volant. I have Volant for no other reason then because I got it for a whopping $120 shipped. It looks great and it was easy to install. Other then that, I have little input as to what is better.

I like the Volant box............Since it is enclosed and only sucking air from the core support area.
The 04 K&N kit I seen was open on one side of the box sucking that nice warm air by the motor.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

From what i have exdperienced tonight, that my K&N Filter was the cause of my problem it is very restrictive , just as my tuner shop told me . i would like to let every one know that this K&N FIPK filter was a power robber to my GTO 04. i am looking for a better intake cone that can help me out . When i took the filter off my cam idled nice and i added more power off the tree just my 2cents
