    2006 Gto

I'm in the process of purchasing a 2006 GTO. The only new options I hear are 18 inch wheels being standard & something new to the hood scoops. Has anybody heard of any new changes?

    Thanks

Hey Scott....The 2006 GTO is bascially the same as the 2005 GTO design. Pontiac lists four changes over the 2005 design: an extra cigarette lighter, lighted radio controls on the steering wheel, darkened rear tail lights, and faster power seats.

Thanks for the info. I hoping they would add an oil & battery gauge to complete the nice dash set up.

Looks real nice. I checked with Borla to see if they have a Cat Back exaust for the 2005-2006. I checked on line and they only have one for the 2004. When they come out with it, it should up the H.P. about another 10 at the fly wheel. I believe they make a 2 1/2 Cat Back and not a 3 inch one like I have on my 1998 Camaro SS[ SLP Dual Dual].

I'm trying the same thing, i got k&N air intake, slp LT headers, borla catback, and im at 340 rwhp. Im having a new cam put in with that underdrive pulley and i should hit 400 rwhp. if your starting from scratch unless u do nitrous and ur planning on taking my steps... cam and pulley $2000 installed, headers 1400 installed, kn and catback 1200. start SAVING!

here is a pic of it...is orange a rare color ?

With a good driver an a 6 speed, most of the 05-06 GTO's should run high 12's in the quarter mile. Anywhere from 12.7 to 12.9 is the norm. Of course if you can't get traction due to the IRS, that time can quickly drop to low or mid 13's. Trap speeds are anywhere from 108-110MPH on average. Top speed is probalby somewhere around 165-170MPH.

From a roll, it will be much faster than your 01 SS in stock form. In the 1/4 mile it will also be faster, provided the driver can launch the car properly. The fastest year would be 05 or 06, when they switched over to the LS2. The 04 GTO's have the LS1, which would be slower than your 01 SS since the GTO weighs more.
