What would be the out come (new charger vs ls1)
I have to ask if anyone have gone up against a new charger yet and if so how did it turn out? I know that there three different engines, but I am talking about the two v8 ones.If anyone have done so, let me know how they came out.

Ls1 with a good driver should do pretty decent. I know they have higher H.P. but there pretty heavy.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
A couple of my friends and me were playing with four kids in a SRT8 last weekend on Woodward Ave. We started pulling away from him in third gear [we all have 6spds] Obviously if he would of had 3 less bodies in the car it might of been faster. Those cars all have a mandatory 2.82 axle and don't run anywhere near their potential.

I was at a toll booth paying and so was a Charger (with hemi). I did not notice him, we both payed our toll at the same time. out of the corner of my eye I see something speeding up quick, by the time I see what it was my Ta was at the rear of his front door. So I punch it and without hesitation I caught up and passed it. Not too fast IMO.

they are not all that fast, low 14 second car stock for the RT and about a high 13 for the SRT 8. Very powerful for what they are though but a stock F bod should dust one. I raced one and it was embarrassing for him but I had a high stall, 373 gears, and bolt ons..

Yea the SRT8 is their fastest one with a hemi 6.1 or 6.3 im not sure sure pushing 425hp. Still bottom line an LS1 should win but would still be a close race. It should be around 1 car length difference

What about a stock Camaro LT1 against a stock Charger RT 5.7, both are low 14 second cars.

Every SRT-8 car I've seen at the track is out of LS1 territory stock for stock so maybe you guys are just getting lucky on the street. They all trap right around 108 also. Cept for the JGC which goes around 104. R/Ts are easy meat for any LS1. They're just about on par with a stock LT1 F-body, probably even slower.

I think the real question should be what will be the outcome with the new challenger.

I don't understand why some think the SRT-8 is out of LS1 Territory? Huh? I've seen several LS1's trap 107-108 at Infineon and Sac Raceway - even the magazines (Motor Trend) got 107.4, and MM&FF got 12.89@108 in a Z/28 in the short article that "BLKCLOUD" posted on "Vid: Stock LS1 slaughters GT500" - Pg 2 of Kill Stories; as well as a quickest time of 12.96 and fastest trap of 108.71 in the SS tested in that same article. That's neck and neck with the SRT-8, if not quicker due to weight advantage for the F-body. Yes I understand some guys are barely getting 105mph traps in their LS1's, but in M/T's first test of the SRT-8 there best trap was 105. Two good drivers, a strong F-Body and a strong SRT-8, and you got a good race.

And because I'm at the track on average 30 times a year. I see these cars run. I see the good drivers and the bad drivers. LS1's are awesome motors, I'd rather have one over a Hemi anyday. But fact of the matter is on a consistent basis the SRT-8s are consistently faster. Sure, put a great driver in a LS1 that knows his car and a first time tracker in a SRT-8 and you'll probably see a better time slip on the LS1 car. The SRT-8s are fast fuggin cars. The LS1 is not out of the Hemi territory but it takes an advantage to keep up, whatever it be. There was an article in the Drag racing section where a kid asked about racin one. Gave the details and I made an educated decision and told the kid to go race the dude and SHTFU by whoopin his ass. It can be done, easily. But more consistently you'll see higher MPH and better time slips from a SRT-8. They're neat cars! I'd honestly like to own a 300. Very well might be my next car if I didn't need truck/suv capabilities. To bad they weren't offered in a 6sp option.

I had a SRT-8 stay with me 50 to 100 and he had 2 big dudes in his car, I was alone. Granted I wasn't hard shiften to redline but it held up well.

I'm not sure about the charger. The one time I got to line up with an R/T he chickened out. One guy in a Magnum Hemi with 'some stuff done to it' came screaming up behind me. of course nobody wants passed by a ghetto-charger, so I floored it as he came next to me and and he fell back almost as fast as he came up. then when we got to the next light he said 'mine's alot heavier!' I wanted to tell him he's the dumba$$ that bought it, and he could have had a WS6 like mine and turboed or blown it for what he paid for the magnum. turns out my cousin knows him.
was not very impressed though cause you could tell he was coming full force.
