GTis are great little cars. My brother has 2001 VR6 5 speed. Pulls really good, when the fronts have traction. Handles great too. Beat the ass of what sounded like a moded civic. Had him by 3rd gear from a dead stop. He either missed a shift or something because you could hear the rev limiter kick in. Followed by a fly by with hazards, typical.

Anything with a "decent amount" of work can be a monster. But it takes so much more work when you start out with one (such as the GTi) that is much closer to wimp than monster. And no matter what you do to a GTi, it can never match the potential that an LSX has.

vw's suck, I worked with a kid and his whole family are vw people. He kept telling me his brothers R32 would whoop me all night. Let me tell you he got a little work into it and that thing is slow as shit. If it wasnt for the awd that thing would be as slow as a honda for gods sake. To qualify for "beat the ass of", you gotta have 'em before you're even through 1st gear. But that's not possible when two wimp-mobiles are racing.

I never said that the GTi could match the potential that an LSX can... Displacement will always win in the end. I will not argue that, but a GTi that is tuned the right way will give you a run for your money.

Just so happens i ran a 1.8t jetta the other night on the highway. He caught me totally off gaurd and i wasnt spraying and i still whooped up on him. I can surely tell you his car wasnt stock eaither. I could hear his turbo spool when i was crusing by him. Let me say it again VWs SUCK!!!

Come on, this is apples to oranges. RWD V8 to FWD 4 or V6 the V8 will have it. I have alaways found it not the car but the idiot behind the wheel that makes the car. Compared to my 02 WS6 my brothers GTi is a go cart and can be driven all year, VWs especially the Gti is a heavy car for what it is.

In all honest for the most part my experiance with VW people is that they are alot less cocky and more civilised than the kid in the civic who thinks that he is king s...t. Car are like guns, its person behind it not the mechanism.
