saturn skye turbo...
...was sitting at a stoplight, not really paying attention to a saturn skye turbo vert that was sitting next to me. the light turns green, i just start accelerating like i normally would. i'm about to skip shift to 4th when I hear a turbo wind up, and sure enough this guy has it mashed. still had the clutch pedal down, so i just slammed it into second real quick and mashed it myself (ASR didn't appreciate it). it took me until i shifted into 3rd before i neutralized the head of steam he had built up on me, and we ran about a half mile or so. was pretty surprised that it took me that long to recover to tell you the truth. i put a couple cars on him by 4th and was walking away pretty steadily in 5th. he was a pretty cool guy, stopped and talked to me at the next stoplight, told me nice car and everything. this all took place on a nice, freshly paved two lane road with a cement median that runs over a highway, no traffic or anything to deal with, which was nice. i just looked up the skye turbo, i guess it is 0-60 in 5.5? surprising to me. couldn't find any 1/4s or anything.
this was my first official "kill" in the berger, i hadn't really found myself in the "right place at the right time" until tonight. just wanted to share the story.

Nice kill. Those turbo Ecotecs are quick. I'm not a big fan of 4 bangers, but unlike the laggy import engines, the engine makes peak torque at 2,000RPM, so it has virtually no turbo lag.
I'm curious to see the aftermarket that comes out for the new LNF.

Tarmac Black- 05 Evo VIII
All stock the 03-04's put out around 245-250awhp, the 05's (up-graded to a 10.5" hotside) put down 255-260awhp, and the Evo IX's (same 10.5" hotside, larger compressor housing and MIVEC) put down between 260-265awhp.
I'm all stock on my '05 besides a K&N drop-in and with-out a tune, my first time ever to the track I ran a 12.95 @ 106.32mph with a 1.89 60ft. If I can get into the mid to low 1.7's for a 60ft. I should be hitting 12.7's.. seeing how everything tenth you cut off your 60ft. results in 2 tenths off your ET.

nah.. I'm actually looking into getting an LS1 as a daily driver while my Evo is down while being upgraded. It just seems that every post you make where a 4 banger is being discussed you have nothing but negative comments to make.. which is fine, to each their own.. But respect should be given where it's due for a little 4 banger being able to run with a LS1..
And your mocking the guy for hitting full boost of 22psi at 3600rpm, but never once did he mention on what size his turbo was, nore his shift point. Hell he could be running a GT40r at 22psi with a 9k redline.. Is he? no probably not, but you should get my point.. I could throw on a tiny turbo on my Evo and have near instant boost.. but what's the point in that if you don't have any top end when that tiny turbo is running out of breath up top. Let's put it this way.. would you ever put twin T25's on your LS1.. Hell no you wouldn't, you'd hit max boost by 1.5k rpms but that doesn't mean anything if it's not producing up top? Right?

To answer your question 4G63inside, Im actually running a Gt32, shift at 7500RPM,
Wesman, Since im no comparison of a Ls1, then you will find this funny, put a 2002 ws6 on the trailer last night at the track, He was ashamed of himself!! HAHA, I went and shook his hand afterwards, he tried to be a dick at first cause he got raped but became cool, I went 7.28@101 in the 1/8th to his 7.75@94. He was on 125 shot of spray, Heads and cam combo, on open headers.
Since I have so much TURBO lag its funny I went 1.56 60' to his 1.78 60'.
You can talk B.S about imports all you want. Yes most are riced Junk, Im not supporting anyone but in the right hands of the right owner, You can get beat very badly.
But I can happily say, I was the fastest street car at the track last night. My buddy still has a step on me in his 302 turbo mustang, he runs 6.80's. But im not far behind, and catching him.

that is correct. i look at what's been accomplished with what's been done. anyone that can drop 3 seconds off their time from stock is doing something good. doesn't matter if it's from 19 to 16 seconds, or 13 to 10 seconds. 3 seconds is 3 seconds.
yeah, i'm starting to get tired of the it takes mega money to get an import to run and the they can't launch above 5000 rpms unless they want their transmissions to fall apart comments as well. really getting old quick. time to move on. just like saying the stock rear in a f-body breaks with drag radials and 300 rwhp. everyone knows it, don't need to keep repeating it.Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

I launch at 4500 @ 8lbs of boost on my 2 step, Yes I have broke before, Yes Ill break again. But isn't that racing? Hell I like being different myself. I don't know of 1 person in my state that has a setup even similar to mine, and when I show up at the track I usually draw a huge crowd at my pit, Especially after I set the front wheels in the air!! B/c you NEVER see an import do it. That what makes it cool. To me its the owner of a car who makes it cool or lame, I have put my thumbs down to a Bunch of Nice vettes, stangs, F-Bodies ETC b/c the owners are Dicks.

I found out that those cars do 0-60 in 5.5 sec and 1/4 mile in 14sec Flat. They have 260hp 260tq, Tq peaks around 2,000-2,500rpm's thats why theres no Turbo lag

14 flat, Damn thats right there with a lt1 and on the door step of a LS1. Im sure the turbo is not maxed stock either, So im sure there is room for improvement to at least 13.5
