Roush 427 R ?
A guy in another town just got a new 427 R. I have a friend that is going to try and set up a race. I went to Roush's website and they say it makes 435 hp. I was wondering if that is crank or rear wheel? It really doesn't matter, if he wants to race, I'll race. Just curious about hp.
Suncoast Creations hood, p&p throttle body, LS6 intake, Dart 225cc 2.02/1.60 heads, TSP 233/239 cam, Hooker headers, 3" duals, Yank SY 4000 stall, LS6 oil pump, double roller timing chain, iridium plugs, Moser 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. Vizage body kit.

Did you read the article?
On a cool day at Raceway Park, we put the 427R against the clocks and laid down a series of 12.40s at 107-108 mph, our best being a 12.44 at 108. This came after burning out, staging shallow, and by releasing the Roush with a smooth yet aggressive application of power.
Looking for more, we bolted on a set of drag radials, powerbraked to 1,800 rpm, and mashed the gas--hard. The "R" scooted from the line with no spin (1.76 60-foot time). It then pressed us firmly in the seat until we crossed the stripe 12.32 seconds later at 109.36 mph. Going fast was as easy as deactivating the traction control, canceling Overdrive, and then flooring the electronic throttle. Impressed? We were.
While 12.30s are quicker than most other stock Mustangs, we still wanted more. The weather report showed high pressure and cooler temps were coming, so a second trip to E-town was planned. Using the same sticky drag radials and breathing colder air, we managed a quicker 12.20, again at 109 mph to end the day. The decrease in e.t. was representative of the cooler air, but due to a stiff head wind, the speed didn't pick up. The strong wind killed about 2 mph and a few thousandths of e.t.Last edited by flash; 03-28-2008 at 09:38 PM.

Sounds like it should be a good race, if it works out. I'm at 3500 ft. elevation, if that makes any difference.

MM&FF has always been know to run a bit quicker than the average guy. There's multiple vids of stock 427 R's losing to bolt-on LS1's. Hence the 109mph trap. And remember I said 'stock', so if he's modded the terms will be different.
Just one example. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/R...oush_95156.htm

thats a good example from the races ive seen
you could clearly tell that neither car was too modded
unless some idiot did a cam on the stock headers
but that would be dumb

Umm yeah.Thats an aftermarket charger from a aftermarket company, but good try.
Also dont you have nitrous? So nitrous is fine, but you draw the line at supercharging.Makes sense to me.
To what?
Your right there.Im sure not many are ever going to touch that, but it shows it can be done.
