Ran a Mach 1 last night

I was with my girlfriend yesterday at about 515 and i see an 02? Mach 1 at the gas station. I look at him as im turning the corner and waved him on. He blew out of the gas station pretty quickly and rolled up. puched it at thirty and that son of a bitch flew!!! i was impressed. But not that impressed because (to my suprise) he was a two lengths behind me and falling. We ran it again and i got him. So he makes a right and i yell thanks and wave because its all in good. This fruit runs a red light, pulls a u turn and stops in the middle of the road and waits for me to make a left. I did and we puched it at 40 and like a schmuck i was in third gear instead of second so he pulled on me. After that he preceeds to cut off more traffic and act like a douche. Just thought I'd share because i think its funny that people take such offense to losing in a street race. its a STREET race, and its not for any money so getting mad is worthless.

This belongs in the Kill Stories section, but can someone say why Mach 1s are better than GTs? I know they make more power, but anyone got 2 pics of their engines to compare? And how about some stats?

I believe the difference between the mach 1's and the standard GT has something to do with cylinder heads and valves per cylinder. Someone with more ford knowledge can probably give more detail info here. Larry.

The GT is a sohc V8.
The Mach 1 is a dohc V8.

the mach 1 is basically a cobra without the supercharger. Same dohc V8, same heads, i think different cam thou.

I know the Mach 1s had around 305 hp. I considered buying one for a while.

no not really. '99 & '01 cobra are aluminum block. Mach 1 = iron.

now that i think about it he kind of did look like vin diesel in a fucked up sorta way. But he had so much torque his chassis twisted coming out of the gas station with his ugly bitch riding shotty.

I thought they were sohc with 4 valves per cylinder heads?? Either way, they are still too slow off the factory floor.

from what i keep reading on here and elsewhere a mach1 will run DEAD even with an ls1 fbody both being equal...stock or otherwise ..there quick...lil faster than the 99-00 cobras..theres a few mach guys on here somwhere if your looking for the differences between them and the 99-00 cobras..there ARE some and i was unaware as well...they corrected me then i looked it up in disbelief..lol

I ran a Mach1
I chased him down on the highway after seeing him fly by when i was coming off the service drive ramp onto the highway
We ran from about 60 I think and we were even

mach 1s also have the "shaker rocker" hood, a little different interior then a GT and alot better looking in my opinion, theyre still built by ford though

I like the Mach 1's, I think they look pretty mean. My brother almost got one, but instead he choose an '03 GT.

03/04 Mach 1 was an aluminum block.
They were not made in 2002
They weigh about the same as the 01 Cobra (3455 pounds). 200 pounds lighter than the 03 cobra. They are 5 speed as the 03 cobra is a 6 speed car. And they do not have IRS like the 99-04 Cobras. They were available in an auto.
They are a DOHC 32 valve engine, so they have 4 cams.

They run times close the 01 cobra, but are actually a little faster in the quarter. They have 3.55 gears instead of the 01 cobras 3.27's. A stock 5 speed 03 mach will run a low to mid 13 sec quarter mile.

They have the same heads (differant cams) as the 03 cobra, but have a higher 10.1:1 compression. They are advertised at 305 hp, but really made around 320 hp. They will beat the hell out of a 99-04 GT. And run really close (if not identical) quarter mile times to a stock LS1 F body.

He didn't feel like springing for the extra cash for the mach at the time. I coulda slapped him seriously. However he is making amends and selling his GT this year for a 2006-7 C6
