If you think the hp number is impressive, it makes 440 lb-ft at 1500 rpms and it just climbs into the 500s from there. It's insanely fast an expensive. There is one at the MB dealer where I worked and I have several pictures of it. The window sticker says 447K. That person you saw earns a damn good living.

I saw one sitting outside a cafe in Paris. Didn't get to hear or see it run though.

    what most will see:

    what few see:

    gorgeous (except the lights)

    the "air brake"

    the motivation

the reason why we'll never have one

What are the $2500 and $3000 options? I'm guessing one is gas guzzler tax?? Can I get one for $500 over invoice? (j/k)

Fuck that. Man those kinda cars are nice but not impressive. Too much fucking money. People with more money than sense. I don't like parking my SS anywhere much less a 500K car.

It's all relative. The guy that buys that car will probably be spending a smaller % of his disposable income on it than we have on ours.

I'm with you Big D. I park in the back of almost every parking lot. I stay away from anything that looks like a POS.

Hell but for what he spent on that car I could buy a house, a fleet of cars, and still have some money left. I hoped like hell he paid for it I would hate to see the car payment for 5 years. That is more than I could imagine.

I agree 100%. I was a MB Tech for a few years and did the roadside calls all of the time and the people that buy the highend Mercedes vehicles already live in multi-million dollar homes so it's not an issue. Some pictures of the SLR from the dealer where I worked.

I worked for Competition Imports which is now called Mercedes Benz of Smithtown. No E-class for us, we were in an ML320 doing roadsides. I actually like the 210 chassis, but damn if they didn't break enough of those window regulator cables on that back passenger window. Easy fix, but very common.

haha my friend is a cop out here in the Bay Area...he saw one cruising down a residential area, so he lit him up just to check out the car! The guy pulled over and when my buddy approached him and said he just wanted to see the car, the guy was cracking up. He was cool about it.

Agreed. I'm not too impressed with them either. Now, the Lingenfelter package for the C5 just before he passed.... a TT-C5, running 0-60 in under two seconds, 9 second flat quarter mile, top speed of well over 200mph, street legal, and a fraction of the cost of the McLaren above.

    ... now that's impressive.

A GTO or Z06 would have killed it.
