so my neighbour picked up a new 1ss camaro l99... really beautiful car. orange with black stripes... too bad it's an auto though.

either way he came out last night so i could look it over, take it for a drive, compare it to mine, and of course, race...

we raced four times from a dig, cause rolls are ghey. each time was the same outcome. close right out of the hole but i would start pulling at the top of first and didn't look back. probably 2-3 cars in the 1\4 and pulling. i thought it would be closer. he was cool about it though. good sport. he ordered a CAI and wants to run again after.

good points about the car: much better build quality than a 4th gen--- you can tell it's much more solid, quiet inside, comfortable, low end torque seems better.. no rubbermaid interior

low points: l99 has less hp than ls3. the torque management for the trans is terrible! it shifts as fast as a retard building a picnic table. big downfall for the auto.

front and rear windows are a little small. poorer visibility than a 4th gen.

x2 on the trans..i heard that the torque managment is brutal for those cars...those autos get a tune..and they will be nasty.

Stock is 13.4-13.6 at 106-108mph, is what ive read. Havent seen one actually run yet, someone in my buddies apartment complex has a red auto SS, only vehicles we have raced him in is a 02 vert stang GT bone stock with cobra rims and a 08 r6. Neither of those races told us anything as the gt ran a 14.1 and the r6 is obviously faster. They were just for fun races

ahh..they ran a 13.4 in 9x% humidity and a hot day..so it is understandable that 13.1s are capable as more people get used to the car.

Just like everyother car ever made, some random owner will get it to go faster than any magazine pro. Im sure in a year there will be people with the ls3 6 speed combo running 12.7-12.8s @111-113mph bone stock

yeah there's already been a few 12.9's, and one 12.87. all around 109. that is the 6 speed manual though

Edmunds and one other i cant remember got a very low 13 with the manual but a 111mph trap speed. Someone else claimed 112mph

motortrend got 111mph but i believe they were using a g tech. most m6 guys are getting 109 traps. probably gain 1 or 2 mph when it gets cooler.
