    Raced a 3000GT VR-4 TT

I was on my way down to the local hang out with the people ive been hanging out lately when i pulled up behind this 3000GT with a custom spoiler and insert that said GTO and i chuckled and caught up to him at the next light.

So he looks over and revs and i sit there and roll up the window, when the light turns green he guns it and so do i, i get from 1st to 2nd and we are next and neck i shift from 2nd to 3rd and start pulling away by the time i get to 4th ive got about 2 cars on him. After that i came off the gas and put it in 5th and let the car slow it self back down to the speed limit. It ended up we were both going to the same place so i talked to them about the car he said he was running a twin turbo set up and had just got done rebuilding the engine two weeks earlier and was running 18 psi.

Pretty cool guy but i did waste him he was kind of surprised he lost by so much. Shows you what can do.

Ive got a cam, headers, full exhaust,CAI, and a light weight fly wheel.

Have no idea, the cars been this way since i bought it, when i bought it 2 months ago all this had already been done to it, except the fly wheel, i had that put in when i had the clutch replaced. The guy who worked on my car told me what it had and told me about how much HP he thought it would make with what had been done to it. He drag races Motor Cycles and has a El Camino Drag car.

BTW careful claiming numbers. Dyno's are relative and just a tool, and most of them do not read relative to each other. That said, altitude, temperature and humidity play a large role in dyno numbers.

Interesting read BTW the car is a true VR4 running 10:1 compression w/ 13g turbos @ 13psi.... I'd love to see these guys race with the VR4 actually launching and running 1 bar

sigh...they weigh about the same as most of the cars in their period. 300lbs more than the MKIV and Skyline..beat both stock for stock in the Japanese import battles.

Ben, I hate to rain on your parade here, but me pulling ahead of you in every gear (not by much, I was only inching away honestly) does not translate in to you putting two cars on me You even told me when we pulled over that what I saw was "1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd". Now you're magically 2 cars ahead of me and in 4th.

Hate to call you out like this, unless I just completely misunderstood what went down

    I'm also running 13psi (factory is 12 :P)

Hi! Be careful when listening to all the hype ppl tend to stir up over less common packages they know nothing about... whether its a california special or SS or WS6. When I had my WS6 i would get guys/gals make rediculous comments about how much faster it was than other t/a's; its the "one" with 'the 'vette motor''...etc... Hasn't happened with the c/s as much, its less noticeable than the WS6 was.. I loved the look of the WS6; had always wanted it; and that's why i got one. I bought my cali special new in March; not because i'd always wanted one, but it did stand out from the rest of the GT mustangs you see everyday. The only performance enhancement listed on the package is 'larger air intake'; which didn't even get listed under the package on the sticker. Haven't compared it to a non-c/s gt but the air box doesn't look out of the ordinary at all... The rest of the package is purely cosmetic, just like most packages like this. Side scoops, 18" unique wheels, Unique front and rear facia, unique 2 tone leather interior color scheme, exhaust tips, and the side stripes. Rated HP is exactly the same as other GTs--300 and 320 tq. So--if you can outrun a GT, you can beat a gt/cs--its just a prettier gt!

Sorry I love the cars. And that was a real nice race! I would love to see it cranked up to 18 psi

Nice kill. 3000GT VR4's are dogs considering how much they cost brand new, most stock ones I've seen run low 14's. Between the heavy weight (almost 3800lbs) and the AWD system sucking up all the power, they just aren't fast.

I used to have an 88 Starion Turbo. I got rid of it and bought a stealth TT. The stealth was not as much fun to drive cause it was so big and heavy feeling. The starion was fun as hell but the 3000GT(stealth) did look a lot better
