So my roomates friend stops by the other day and I see him pull up in a lightning.......long story short I asked him if it had any balls and he proclaimed that indeed it did. So I says to him I says, " wanna see how it does against the ole camaro?"
"It would be a waste of my gas", he replies.
Well I'm no sucker and I know you can make even a hunk of shit ford fast with daddy's money, so I ask him whats he got done to make that ole 4500 lbs sommabitch so fast.
He said stock, and I half-chuckled (recalling a friend saying earlier that he had a smaller pulley on that dere supercharger and a cat-back exhaust).

He insists that it would be a waste of gas and so I have to make a wager.......
Funny thing is he never asked anything about my car.......ahh cockyness..... can be expensive sometimes.

So we go out to a nice straight country road and line em up. He wants a dead stop and im much abliged to give it to him.

I dead hook out of the hole, put about a car on him. Thru 2nd I was about 2.5, 3rd still pulling slightly and shut it down right at about 115 in 4th 3-3.5 cars out.

We run two more times and one was slightly closer.....All in all cocky lightning owner paid for a new cam for me. Thanks pal

I'd say the truck was a high 12 sec truck, but he talked like he was going to destroy me.

That's not the point I'm trying to make.....take away his blower and its an f-150.

Like when people hate on turbo or awd......take away that and they've got nothing on ya!

And they're right, but unfortunately you're not looking at the same car at that point.

Which is my point, what is the point of bench racing? It seems to me that real racers with fast cars race, and people who are clueless bench race cars that don't exist.

Isn't the point of racing to find out who can get from point "A" to point "B" the fastest? And in trying to reach point "B" you try to give yourself an advantage anyway you can?
I mean who cares about turbo, NA, nitrious, big cubes, gears, weight reduction, AWD, etc... You as a racer are intentinally trying to give yourself an advantage over the other guy to get to the finish line quicker.

Yes I understand the "driver mod" is an important factor also.... but if we JUST wanted to see who was the better driver, we'd all be driving the EXACT same cars. (Kind of boring)

Comments like "Yeah, but you had a supercharger" are worthless to the argument of racing..... SO WHAT.

And on the subject of Lightnings,.... a very respectable truck... I mean come on as far as pick-up's go, it's nasty fast AND looks good. ith just a pulley, gears, and tune, it's faster than most mustangs and camaros in the 1/4. Give respect where's it's due.... Just my .02

fast is fast no matter how you get there.........you gotta remember........its a 4500lb truck..............take away your turbo and what happens
