Pounding the German's like they deserve.

So I am crusing back from my buddies house monday night and this nice new M3 pulls up besides me and paces me for a couple miles. I laugh it off for a little bit because he looks like he is out in daddies car. Finally after he trys for like 5 miles I give him a little taste of what a lightly modded ls1 can do.

Here's how it went down: we are at a light and there are a couple of people behind us but no cops(thank god)

grizzle: You know I'd go for man, but this road has way too many cops on it....

m3 driver: yeah I know but i havent driven this car in 4 months

    grizzle: thats a shame.....

Light goes green, we both ease off the line (mind you Im on 245/50/16's that are almost showing metal). He desides to hit it and let him get a 1/4 car out then do the same. I spin the hell outta 1st, pedal it, Im still at his rear fender. Shift to second and start spinning again, pedal it and getg traction at about 5000 rpm and reel him in and he is about 1/2 car back by 70 (top o second). Shift to third and start to freight train him, and shut down at about 85 two cars out.

It was very fun but for some reason he feels butthurt and procedes to do a ricer flyby.
Thought that those m3's were supposed to be quick?!?

Nice kill. The M3's are supposed to be pretty quick, however it doesn't surprise me that with the slight edge the LS1 had going into the run, coupled with an inexperienced M3 driver that you would be 2 car lengths ahead by 85.

As for the traction issues....I feel your pain. First gear feels so strong on my car, however without traction it's almost a waste. Guess I need to look for more people to run from a roll.....or I just need to pony up and slap a set of DR's on it!

BMW did not make an '07 M3 and all the earlier ones are straight sixes. They are pretty quick ok but BMW stopped production for a year so they can put in their new V8 for 2008.

Hmmm. 8,500 RPM. 400 plus HP. Individual throttle vanes for each cylinder. Check it out.

This might prove to be a closer race for an LS1.

    I want one.

You are correct. The NEW M3 is going to be absolutely sick! They finally added the extra 2 cylinders they needed. They've always been quick, however it looks like now it's going to be quick, fast and it isn't going to sound like crap!

The M3 just became considerably more appealing to me!

Yeah, I have drag radials sitting in my garage but I try to keep them for those special occasions when I actually might need them. If I would have had traction it would be a much shorter story

    Good kill.

I raced a bebadged M3 on the highway when I was putting 372 to the ground. I only put a car length between us from 80-140. That bimmer hauled ass!

Must have been well modded, this one just had dinan exhaust according to the driver. I wish I had my good tires on so I could have put like 10 cars on him.
