please learn to drive before you race
ok so lets start with the number one rule with manual trans. before one can either show of or race one must learn how to shift gears and drive useing a clutch
so here's what happened. i was on my way home from work it was about 7pm unfortunatly my dad's dodge truck is in the body shop so he had to borrow my trans am so he could get to work so im driving my primary truck its a '00 Chevy S10 4.3 with the ZR2 offroad setup not much powerups just cold air intake and a chip from comp cams still the truck gets up and moves if you want it to so anyway i was sitting at a light with about 1/8 mile stretch till the next light and a '08 mustang bullitt plus up next to me i look over and see that its a young kid who must of just got the car so i thought id mess with him a little. i ask him if its fast and ask if he wanted to race to the next light he agrees and we take off. he get one car on me and then i hear gears grinding and the motor hitting the red line. couldn't help but to laugh as i flew by him

ughhh that sucks for him especially in a brand new car....I've done that by accident(never had a brand new car) but I've missed a 1-2 on occasion(with prev. car, ion redline) NOT a pretty sound. Missing 2-3 is the worst cause that's prob the most forceful shift and you can really feel the grind through the shifter.

wow, who knew gear shifting was so hard for some people. Well I cant speak for everybody, but we all make mistakes. I rarely miss gears, why? I drive a 13 speed all day long
, I do give the kid some slack but otherwise pretty funny.

Even the best of them miss from time to time. It happens. We've all done it. When it really sucks is when you are running for points in UMTR and you just gave that run away

I know, just trying to be funny
any how, I have trouble timing my overdrive gears from time to time, I almost never missed a gear in my TA, but I still would like to get a shifter, you know just in case.
Automatics are for tenderfoots LOL

I like the auto's too, they have their place and I race one of my faster cars with an auto. But the UMTR I class raced in requires a stick with a working clutch, no question. So everyone is on a level playing field so to speak. The next guy has just as much of a chance of missing as I do, so no excuses. It's racing like it used to be. Their motto is "If you don't have a clutch,,,you don't have much"

Hahaha. I had a buddy with a 64 malibu if I remember correctly, and he let his then new girl friend drive it. While they were cruising along at a good clip she asked what the "R" stood for on the console,,,and like a dummy he said,,,,,"RACE"
So what does she do??? Slams that thing into reverse as she floors the gas
That'll teach him
