So how hard was it to build up the RB25?
I dont have my 300ZX no more but I just bought a 240 too and im debating weather to do a KA24 or SR20 or RB25.
I know the KA is better motor once you get 300 which is hard to get but then SR20 it isnt hard to reach but then it becomes hard building up.
Dont know too much about the RB series but I can get the 25 pretty cheap compared to the 26.

That's sweet. Sure didn't sound like a 6. Thought you might've had an ls1 swap or something.

Well its kinda all in the application you want to do. if its Drag, Peronally for the money I would drop a LT1 in it with a Turbo setup. (They are No heavier than the RB's), My motor weighed in at little under 800lbs including tranny.

I can make well over 1100HP with the rb25 block, But parts are not cheap and they are hard to find. Plus there just a pain in the ass LOL But if you like Different and not a 4 banger sound, There great engines, Hard to beat them.

The KA block any day of the week is better than the sr20, as a DD I would def build the KA, The sr20's are not all there hyped up to be.

Like I say its all in a personal choice, I almost went v8 before I bought this, Just b/c Im a muscle man, But I wanted to keep it with a Nissan power plant so thats what I came up with.

I also like being the different car at the track so it also made it Unique cause NO one knows what it really is. LOL

Well if I wanted an all out drag car yea it would be the KA for sure or maybe even the RB. Usually the RB is pricy but I can get good deals on it and parts. But for something to just kinda fuck around with it doesnt really matter. Thats why im leaning towards the SR just becuase its not hard to get it to 300hp anything after that KA is the way to go but then it also becomes a drag car.
What was the biggest problems you had with the RB25?

Tuning, It cost so much for the electronics. 1400$ for a Power FC commander to fully tune it, Wideband 02, then you gotta Have good accurate gauges, I have a Oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, Boost, Volts, also a EGT gauge, all Autometer.

But then i have a Gizzmo 2 step launch control on it, Line lock, and a SAFC for a digital Tach, LOL,

But also when i bought my motor I was lied to about it and found it to have a broke piston, So then I went and replace Everything internal with Forged parts.

Went Weisco pistons .020 over, Rb26 Rods, Stock Crank cause its factory forged and good for over 600WHP, ACL race bearings, ARP main bolts, and head bolts, HKS timing belt, Cometic head gasket, I also have a Exedy stage IV race clutch (By far the Stiffest clutch you will ever push) I have SS clutch lines and its all I can do to hold it to the floor LOL,

So internally the motor is built to hold 700HP, I just purchased a precision 60mm turbo for next race season, it should put me in the 6's 1/8th mile and 10sec 1/4 mile.

Another MAJOR problem I had is it trying to Over heat, I finally had to buy a r33 radiator and I built a oil cooler for it, has a Greddy sandwich plate with a thermostat in it so it doesn't keep my bearings cold when I first crank it and let it run for a few mins.

Honestly if your going to keep it a Nissan power plant the Rb25 series is the way to go. But you better have 10k in the bank before you start. B/C to do it RIGHT the first time, Thats what it will take.

The motor itself is cheap ya, But all the stuff thats is needed to make it run right, Is what costs so much, I have spent the last 4 years building this car. Little by little, and so far this is what it has become. But I started with just a body and Frame.

Yea I think I am going to do the Silva conversion.
I am going to order the front end clip so I will have the hood, fendors, headlights ect. ect. along with an SR20 and tranny. I dont want it to be an all out drag car so lightly modded. Goal will be to aim for mid 13s are faster. But I think it will mostly be for drifting/show/cruise car

Sounds good man, keep me updated. I mostly use mine for a track car b/c I have 2 different setups between the track and the street, But I usually drive it more in the winter when race season is over.
