Me VS Pullied cobra
Last night i made the mistake of having a few pulls for the first time since my buddy pullied his 03 cobra. I think you all know what the outcome was.(it was ugly) Can i beat him with big cam and a good tune or will i need more. He also has a cold air intake and catback.

i would think a cam/tune would put you over the 400rwhp mark easy. you may have to do heads/cam/tune to seal the deal though.

Holy crap... someone actually admitted that a s/c cobra will smoke some ass... seems like most ppl around here seem to think stock t/as will walk them all day long...
i think this is a step in the right direction...
BTW with a pulley, cai, and exhaust hes prolly pushing 425 to the ground (if hes tuned)

Good try at least haha.
I'm starting my cam swap in about 2 weeks and I'm hoping to get somewhere near 400 to the wheels (stock 10 bolt i know i know) and play around with my freinds, brother's cobra! He's got a pulley, retartedly big exhaust (I think 3.5 or something...) and cai, but I hope I'll be able to keep up with him.

My Brother Has The Same Exact Setup If The Guy Your Talking Has The Smaller Pulley The 2.8 And I Take Him With A 100 Shot Pretty Easily
If He Has The Bigger Pulley Then It Wouldnt Even Take That
I Think H/c And Tune Will Do The Trick Also But N20 Is Way Cheaper

$2000 in parts/labor later and you might pull him....he spends $200-400 more and he'll put bus lengths on you again...

I love the car i drive it a lot. I just feel like 400 to the wheels will be enough. I used to take him by about a car when he had a cai and catback and he had to be putting atleast 30 more to the wheels than me. I know they are definitly heavier and it seems like it takes them quite a bit more horse to beat an ls1.

150-shot will take care of him for now, but plan to build your bottom end later. That's what gives him a huge advantage over you.

Nice death. A good cam with supporting mods (410-420rwhp) should be about even. Ive had both and my 2 cars ran door to door with these mods, FYI. That Cobra could be as little as 440rwhp but as much as 470rwhp. My buddy just sold his 2000 Z28 and bought a Silver 03 with same mods I had and it made 465rwhp.
99 SS
PP LS6 heads
TSP 233/239/605 cam
Pace Setters/ORY
UD pulley
SLP 85maf
LS6 intake
ported stock TB
K+N Fipkit
Total of 430ish rwhp
It was good for 11.50's @120-121 with a 3:42.
03 Cobra
2.8 upper only
Diablo tune
CAI
Magnaflow CB
Total of 460ish rwhp
They ran side by side UNLESS I ran from a roll @ 40 where the Cobra would pull a 1/2 car instantly but it seemed that the SS would inch back up where they seemed to be even ALL THE TIME unless my brother-in-law (sold him the SS) or myself missed a shift. From a dig, the SS would spin AND go, where the Cobra would spin BAD so you had to 3/4 throttle it out of the hole. If I could really get out of the hole, it may have a car on the SS. This is as honest as it gets.
FYI, I have an 02 SS now. (for sale)

It takes about 20-40rwhp more due to the weight. Throw a solid in there and its pretty much even. I can tell you, 400rwhp will NOT be enough to have fun. Be honest with yourself, 400rwhp was a goal 3-4yrs ago. Everyone needs atleast 600rwhp to have fun. Thats how it is around me anyway. Hell a 460rwhp C6 Z06 will run with a KB Cobra. Try running a KB Cobra (125-135 traps) or a C6 Z06 (125-135 traps) with under 500rwhp.
Be proud of all this American power we have though, its very nice.Last edited by JayplaySS2; 03-27-2008 at 11:10 AM.
