    Me vs cobalt ss

Well my buddy just bought on of those new cobalt ss turbos with a 5 speed. They are quick little cars he took me for a ride. I asked him if he wanted to run when we got back to my house. We get on the highway, no ones on there and did one run from 40-110. It didn't really keep up that well there was a constant pull from 4-6000 rpms and beat him by probably 4 car lengths. 2nd run was from 60-120. Again same result. It was really fun, my first real organized race sense I got the car.

Not the new ones, they're turbo'd now.

Supposedly they're not to much of a joke w/ a good driver. They instituted a lift free shift in it too. If you shift quick enough, it won't touch the limiter...

I'm sure you'll see quite a few new ones running mid 13s around 105.

The new LNF turbo models are much faster than the previous supercharged version. I've read 1/4 mile times of 14.1 @ 103, that is quick for sure. Top speed is supposed to be 160MPH. One cool feature is the no lift shift, just keep your foot to the floor as you change gears, the computer will match revs for the next gear for you so you won't hit the limiter.

The other cool thing is that unlike most turbo 4 cylinders (Evo, STI, ect) the LNF has peak torque at 2,000RPM, so there is virtually no turbo lag at all.

Oh nice, i never knew they upgraded.
I never really liked the idea of supercharging a 4 cylinder so im glad to see it has a turbo now. They are not bad at all and i guess even better now. Atleast its a GM

Now all they need to do is add a 6 speed (5 Speed = obsolete and junk) and I would prolly buy one.

GM will be coming out with stage kits for the turbo models.Only rumors right now on what the hp will be. The hp for the stage 2 kit for the s/c models boosted the hp from 205 to 245. The stock turbo model is rated at 260hp so I would think GM would make turbo stage kits to boost the hp just as much if not more. I heard from GM they should be released in the 4th 1/4 of this year.
I will say this about those cobaltians, they are not afraid to spend money!
Don't get me wrong I am not a fan of the cobalt,,but I do the money that is spent on them!

along with the no lift shifting they also have launch control from the factory. they are indeed a good platform for upgrades... direct injection 2.0 turbo
