LS1 240SX vs. Hyundai Genesis
Don't know if this is worth the post, but I had fun. So currently while I'm putting together some parts for the cam swap, and being that my other 240SX is down for upgrades, the LS1 twoforD is my only fun car for now.
Anyways, I decided to take the car out yesterday to take some stuff over to the Fedex drop to be shipped. Well I'm at the light and this brand new black Hyundai Genesis coupe rolls up with two high school looking kids in the front seats. So then I get a rev from that 2.0L turbo. I think to myself "Do I really need to embarrass these kids or not worry about it". I decide the later, however when the light turns green the Hyundai does some rediculous launch and smokes his rear tires past me and proceeds to "pull" away as I drive normal. So I get up to the next light and these little punks are snickering in the car. At this point I'm really motivated to open her up. So then this little 17 year old has the nerve to say "Hey, do you want to get beat again?"..... seriously, who says that to someone else? So I just look over and shake my head at them. I look ahead, no cars in front, do a quick cop check, looks pretty clear. Light turns green and this Genesis goes for another smokey launch. I rev her up and launch her when the light turns green (I'm on drag radials). I think I put about 5 cars on him by the time I hit 2 gear. So I ride out 2nd for just a bit, and feel bad and shift to 3rd to wait for him. Sure enough he's coming up quick still on the throttle. Just as he's at my back bumper I nail it to the firewall in 3rd, catch his speed, hit 4th and he's way way back. Pathetic. So I put it into 5th, then 6th and start to slow down to cruising speed, and this fool is still on the throttle and blows by me at about 100mph. So we go over a bridge and he's already stopped at the next light. I roll up and ask these guys, "Hey, do you want to get beat again?" To my comment the guy rolls up his windows in defeat. So I do a u-turn and head back to my destination.
Not the best kill story, but it was nice to take a turbo Genesis down.

That's hilarious and awesome.
The best model of the Genesis has a V8 though right? And it's relatively cheap and fast I think. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Arctic White, red/gray- 1997 Corvette, 92 Typhoon
Thats the sedan that comes with the v8, the coupe that weighs 3200lbs only comes with the 2.0turbo and v6 and msrp is 22k for the turbo model and 25k for the turbo model with brembos and race tuned suspension, torsen rear diff and 6 speed manual. Now the v6 is faster stock but the 2.0turbo thats in the coupe is a design copied after the 4b11 evo engine. There are already alot of bolt ons for the turbo genesis and in korea where the car has been out for almost 2 years people already have gt35r and gt30r custom setups making some decent power.

You can laugh, but I believe this will be the new RWD import sports car craze. 2.0L turbo + RWD is something many import enthusiasts have been waiting for since the 240SX.

yea, then they just use the car and find a better engine to put in it just like the 240sx

Its not as good as the evo block. But they do have sleeves already to make sure it can hold some boost. Basically they wanted the genesis to be the new tuner car but hyundai didnt want to have to build an performance engine and a whole new aftermarket world for it. So they are using one that already has a good rep and a good aftermarket supply.
The car itself is a good design and they are making many versions
2.0 non turbo
2.0 turbo
2.0 turbo track with brembos, suspension and torsen rear diff
v6
v6 track with same gear as the 2.0t track
and they said they will release a stirpped version of the 2.oturbo that is supposed to come in at 3000lbs or slightly under.

Well at least they get a 2.0L turbo or a 3.8L V6, 6 speed transmission, limited slip, Brembo brakes, and tuned suspension to start with STOCK. All the 240SX got was a 2.4L truck motor that barley got the car into the 16s stock. The only reason I run 240s is for the chassis. Cheap, light, RWD, strong. Means I can spend money on more important areas of the car...... like under the bonnet.
