lpe 383 camaro VS full bolt on mach1

really not much of a story to tell....i fucked it up pretty good...from a 40 roll i had about 3 cars on it by 90 or so.....i just have a question..anyone know what a full bolt on mach puts down???? my buddys gfs ( her car, hot ass car i might add...blue and sounded SIIIIICK) she claimed 400 flywheel horse..she had full exhaust headers back....pully..intake..and thats all i could SEE..we talked briefly but i forgot to ask what else..is that accurate?? i would guess closer to 360..but what do i know..shes planning a blower next....time for some spray for me? hehe

My guess would be MAYBE 360hp as well. How is that 383? Pretty awesome. JL, R.I.P.

i was pretty much full bolt on and i made 316 at the wheels. all i didnt have was a throttle body. however the mach has a strong 1st and 2nd gear, also they love 4.10s.
i would love to race a 383 ls car when i get my car back.. should get it back next week.

what is considered full bolt ons? full exhaust, intake manifold, tb, pulley, and tune? am I missing anything? 360hp at crank sounds good for the mentioned mods on a Mach1.

so 316 at 15 percent....about 360....yeah thats what i thought..and pretty much what the results showed as well....it would of been even worse if i had some tires that grabbed..i was still fighting for traction thru part of second and when i grabbed 3rd....80 degrees outside to....REALLLLY need new tires...can i say again that mach sounded SICK once again though......its such a unique sound to..a modded 4v mustang that is....she gets her blower..i get some sticky tires....then well really have some fun

There are a few 'bolt-on' Machs over 320 RWHP, but the dyno is just a number, so it is really rather meaningless.

4.10 is the absolute minimum I would want with a mostly-stock Mach 1. 4.30s better, and 4.56s if there is going to be significant track time on stickies.

4Vs need gear more than anything else.

I agree, in a 4v Mach/ or NA Cobra, but I was considering gears for my 03? Probally 3.73 or 4.10?
Alot of people are telling me it will mean zero traction, and slower 0-60 times, because of the higher power output of the Supercharger. I have always put lower (higher ratios) gears in my other cars and loved it. Any advice on the Termy, Mr BLKCLOUD?

Those must be them special pistons that bolt to the rods and not pressed on?

Lower gears increase torque multiplication to the wheels, generally hurting traction (having a supercharger doesn't matter). More gear = more need for traction, thus like anything else you do to a car, its a compromise.

    I had 3.90s in my 04 KB Cobra, but I also had an F-body spec 5th and 6th gear (.75 & .50).

Ya there is no better mod for a DOHC motor than a good set of push rods. LOL

Ok, I didnt mean the supercharger meant anything, just that the 03/04 cobras have more power, and Ive heard that gears are not a great idea for them. But it sounds like traction would get way worse, and I already have great traction problems. So I will skip the 4.10 gears for now.

    I wish I had a higher 6th gear, I would prefer a .57.

This is the setup I want
    (1st: 2.97:1, 2nd: 2.07:1, 3rd: 1.43:1, 4th: 1.00:1, 5th: 0.71:1, 6th: 0.57:1) Think that is the new ZO6 ratios.
I think that setup is ideal. Lower 1st,2nd,3rd and raise 5th and 6th.
Then the 3.55:1 rear gears would be perfect for my needs.

Unless severely over-geared, the only real disadvantage to gear is that it will hurt traction, everything else being the same. For street racing (not my thing), it might not be a good idea. On the track, sticky tires will allow making use of the extra gearing.

Personally, I think the highest possible 6th gear would work best for an 03/04 Cobra, as they have plenty of low-mid rpm power, and thus can 'pull' that gear with ease (LS1 F-body comes stock with .50 - they have less power than even a stock 03/04 Cobra, and have no issues with that tall of an OD). The benefit is that going down the highway, the engine is turning fewer rpm, resulting is less wear and tear on everything - most noticeably the blower.

I can attest to a traction issue and I have nowhere near your HP numbers Preston. I went from a 2.73 to a 4.10 and on the street 1st gear sux even with full rear suspension boltons and a 315 tire. But I know at the track with my slicks bolted on It will be mega fun. your termy with 3.73 and street tires will be dead tires quick.
