    kinda surprised!

well the other night i decided to take the TA out for a drive. i was on the freeway and i pull next to 2 96 impala ss's, so i look over and gave them a little rev. one guy takes off so i do the same, and im thinking ima whoop these guys. but to my surprise it took a little time to pass him up, dont get me wrong i smashed on them. i knew that they had the 350 lt1 in them but i never knew they were that fast.

They can be made into very fast cars. Force Fed Performance down here in Northern California has built many, including a 1012rwhp Twin Turbo 392 LT1-powered '94.

my brother had a 383 stroker in his old 9c1 (impala clone). it was pretty fast, it would run even with my heads/intake/cam+bolt ons 5.0 from a roll (trapped mid 109's).

Mine is mostly stock, but has surprised many a man that thought their machines were superior to the heavy chevy.

96 SS was sweet. Only year they put in a floor shifter so they're easy to identify that way. Very nice for a four door sedan.

My buddy got in my car and told me he could handle anything. I took him for a 130mph run in the sedan and he kissed the ground when we got out. LOL He thought I was driving grandpa's car.

Those LT1 Impalas are much cooler than any subsequent model. My sister has a '05 Impala SS with the S/C 3800 and it is pretty nice but there is no substitution for the V8!

LT1's are good motors, they just have a few problems, the main one being the opti-spark. I've read it takes a little more money and work to extract the same power out of a LT1 than a LS1, but that doesn't make them bad.

Drive it long enough and you will. The water pump, optispark, and radiator are the biggest problems. An LT1 is less responsive to mods than an LS1 is, but they can be run into the ground and survive with few problems. Mine has seen 30k miles last year and I only changed tires and a water pump.

me neither. i have had mine for 8000 miles and the only problem i had was a couple hoses being worn out and the only work i have done on it at all has been tires. i have done a couple bolt-ons for performance but nothing as far as repairs.

not really. it's pretty cheap power with an lt1. when you compare it to the extra cost associated with getting the ls1 to start it's actually cheaper. lt1's respond very well any modification. heck you get 18hp out of just a cold air intake from k&n. you can make an lt1 produce the same amount of power as an ls1 with about 1400 dollars. and you came make it produce about 370 with a good set of custom heads and high lift cam and 1.6 roller rockers. i mean on a stock lt1 you gain 26hp from putting 1.6 roller rockers on it and raising the the lift up to about .5. lt1's have very few problems in my mind. the optispark problem can be fixed with a 500 dollar msd replacement if it's a problem but mine works fine and has 80000miles on it from what my records say.

Yea I am thinking about selling my LT1 soon and buying either another LT1 M6 car with lower miles or maybe go and buy an LS1 or maybe get a 99-01 cobra or just whatever I find out there I guess.

get an ls1 i found my 6 speed with 84K miles with a hurt clutch for 5,650, the cobras are over priced and are not at the same level as the ls1.
