Killed a Mach I a few days ago
I was in town heading away from the local mall when I hear the loud rumble of a mustang. (I couldn't see the car at the time when I heard it, but you can tell when it's a mustang) I look over and see a nice black mustang Mach I. I have no idea what the guy has done to the car, but it sounded like he had headers and a catback. (sounded awesome) Anyway we take off at the light, I might have got the jump, but regardless I pulled him pretty easy all the way up to 80MPH. I let off the gas thinking he might catch up and want to run again, but I guess he had other places to go and turned right. I think I had him by 5-6 cars at least, I even tried to wave at him as I was pulling away. (dork move I know) Anyway at the next light some guy in a white van pulled up next to me and said, "you tore that mustang up didn't ya" then he went on to say how my car sounded good and what not. That was my first time playing with a Mach I, they seem to be about as quick as the new mustang gts. I think I would have pulled him by more if I had better tires on the back of my car. I spun pretty bad at the top of first and on into 2nd gear. I think I need the driver mod too
Nothing like good clean fun
(I was really looking forward to racing a Mach I, my wife owned a 2003 red one when they first came back out. It was a quick car for sure, and much easier to get off the line compared to my goat, so it was nice to finally run one in my GTO)

Nice kill, yeah they are nice stangs, I raced one when i first got my ls1, my t/a was fully stock down to the paper filter, only took him by about a little over a half car length, fully stock ls1 and mach 1 is a drivers race

They are fun cars for sure, I think the Mach I was a lot easier to get off the line then my GTO is. It was nice having a mustang that was different then the Gazillion Mustang GTs out there. But I would take a Ls1 anything over a N/A 4.6

I personally would rather have an 03-04 mach 1 over a newer GT anyday. Good kill.

Red Fire- 2007 Mustang GT/CS
I like the performance of the Mach 1, but the body integrity is just too lame for me. I test drove a couple..
Door panels were flimsy and door handles loose etc. (Low mileage cars too)
And I agree, the major reason I went with the CS is so that I look a bit different then the 15 kazillion GTs/V6ers out there.
Not that my car is as Striking as a WS6.. Black WS6 is still to me one of the best looking cars about. SS, Z28, T/A, Vette.. Nothing looks as bad ass as a clean WS6 in Black with tinted windows..

Yeah same here in mn, they are really starting to spread out here like wildfire since their release, almost see them as much as I see grandams, I saw a brand new saleen last august at a mall parking lot, and lemme tell ya that thing stands out the most out of all the common ones

You're thinking of the Bullitt Mustang. Those were basically GT's with a CAI, hence the +5HP rating over the GT.
Mach 1 has a completely different engine, its the DOHC 4.6 like the Cobra used. Basically a 03-04 Cobra motor without the S/C and forged pistons and rods. However, the crank is still forged (5 speed models only). They have very good top end power, and they redline at 7000RPM.
Mach 1's also come stock wth SFC's, which is a nice addition, and really stiffens up the chassis over a regular Mustang/GT.
