Just beat a yellow C6 Vette

I was on my home from work tonight, I approach a stop light and see a yellow C6 convert. (beautiful car) 2 cars in front of me. I notice he has his top down and his windows up, which usaully means its an old guy that wont race. Dont know why, but it always seems if the windows are up, and the top is down, that the scenario I find, an old guy who doesnt want to mess up his hair. and will not race ya, they give you that look like you are not up to there "Corvette" standards.

Anyway, not the case with this guy, he is middle age, but as soon as I got beside him he reved it up, then dropped it in, what I think was 2nd gear, and spun the tires a little, just to show off. I looked over and he was smiling from ear to ear. I rev back and he gives me the average thumbs up to show he likes it.

I yelled out my window, "You ever race that shitbox?" He laughed and said "some times" I then said "go for it" He says "you first than I will" So I punch it and so does he................. Im in 2nd at low RPMs and spin the tires, even get a little squirly, but I still pull on him and then in 3rd, I leave him by 1-2 cars. We both let off at around 100 mph or so, I had him by 2-3 cars at the end. I slow down and want a second race, because it isnt that often I find a car that, even some what, keeps up with me. he says ok 1 more. But I let him punch it first this time............

Results close to the same, except It took me all of 2nd to pass my rear bumper past his front bumper, we go to 110 or so, I had him by around 3 cars this time, and i didnt spin as bad in 2nd gear....

The guy was real cool, and he could drive well. Last thing he said was "nice ride" then gave me one more of the thumbs up before he turned down another street.

I know the car was a stick, and it has at least 400 horse, but any mods I dont know, Im guessing not. I dont know if his top being down hurt his performance or not, I know they are heavier than a non vert C6.

I have raced alot of 02-04 ZO6's, this race was about the same results as those cars. Maybe a tad slower than a C5 ZO6. When the race was over, I felt good, but I would still trade him cars, in a heartbeat. those new vettes can run and they look SWEET.
