i think ive found my new car.
Well, im tired of driving around this V6 firebird so im selling it and i was on craigslist and a guy has a 96 firebird Formula with 106kmiles for $4400 i called the guy to see if it was ok to come out and look at and, i whent out there he said i could test drive it, so me and the owner are driving down Broad st. and im talking to him about the car and this turbo eclipse pulls next to me, i know who the kid is and i know he just has a t3/t4 turbo kit on a automatic Rs Eclipse with CAI and exhaust and his tags says 1SLOWRS, as im talking to the guy at the light this eclipse starts to rev and the guy chuckls and says go ahead so where waiting for the light to turn green and i go this LT1 gets up and go's like ive never seen, i pull from the eclipse hard off the line got him at about 3 cars, and im holding him off till about 100mph. we end up getting stoped at another light and the owner of the eclipse says 35roll i said na not my car but the owner said and i quote *Show that ricer why its called american muscle* so i said ok we get rolling at 35mph and the eclipse honks and the formula pulls hard again but the eclipse wasnt far behind he prolly had full boost at the roll but i still got him by 2. i asked the guy what is the lowest price he will take for the car and he said 4k i told him im gonna do everything i can to get the car, he told me he will take it off craigslist for a month so i can try and get the money so im hoping in the next month ill own this car, unless i find something better.

Insurance on em isn't that bad here in Ohio. They don't look at it as "oh it's gonna go up cause it has a Corvette motor" I've got a 98 Formula full coverage including all my mods covered for 67 a month with a $100 deductible. It was only 132 while it was my daily driver but now it's considered a low mileage driver since I bought another daily driver.
If your wondering, I've got insurance with State Farm in Circleville.98 FORMULA 6Spd, Zr1 Wheels,
224/228 .591/.591 113LSA Cam, LS6 Oil Pump,
918 Valve Springs, Heads Milled .010",
Ported TB, SD Tune, PaceSetter LT's/ORY,
MagnaFlow Catback, Ls7 Clutch/Flywheel,
Hurst Billet/Plus Sifter, BMR Rear Suspension,
Eibach Pro-Kit
365 RWHP 373 RWTQ

Ive got grange insurance and they dont seem to bad plus ive got the good grade discount, i talked it over with my mom and since it being a v8 and if it was in my name i wouldnt be able to afford it so she said if i can maintain my grades untill the end of the year, and be able to pay the monthly payments if there not high she said she will put everything in her name so its cheaper and i can get this car...

I hope you can get that Formula! Insurance should not be too bad. It's an older car with a low list price and if you have a clean record it should be affordable, especially if everything goes in your mom's name and you are listed as a driver.
It would be well worth it to shop around for insurance. I wouldn't be persistant in this but I saved about $450/year by shopping around. Did you get the VIN so you can get quotes?

im waiting on the insurane people to call back but the guy said the lowest he will take is $4200 i will have to sell my firebird now but ive had an offer for $3800 but then i gotta come up with $400 and if i have to i will sell my xbox 360 but still gotta make up the rest unless someone wants to buy a 360 for $400 with 2 games wireless controller 20gb HDD xbox live account HDMI cables and play and charge kit. How is gas milage in the LT1, i usally dont do a lot of driving untill the weekends and then ill drive to a friends house, then maybe to easton which is right up the highway, but when i drive its more than likely the speed limit to save the gas.

Dude, show up with $4k and I guarantee you're leaving with the car. Probably could get away with less. Don't be afraid to try. Cash in hand is a hard thing to turn down.
Chris
PS. Congrats, that's an awesome car for a teenager! Be thoughtful of where you race. I'm lucky to be alive after owning a 5.0 at the age of 16.

IMO, I wouldn't go Loud Mouth. I had a LM1 kit on my old Purple Pearl '93 Z, along with Finish Line Performance Long-tube headers and no cat. It was way to loud for me, especially in the interior. I ended up putting my FLP high-flow cat on there and that helped a bit, but not enough. Needless to say a Corsa Cat-back somehow found it's way onto the car
But on the other hand, some people love the Loud Mouth. Some are true LM1 Die Hards
It's your opinion though that matters. Check out http://www.ls1sounds.com/ and judge for yourself!!!

RED- 2002 FORMULA
When I was 18, i brought a 1978 (3 yrs old) MG Midget. The car was expensive, $3500.00. My car payment was $110. a month and insurance was 125 a month. It goes down eventually, espesially when you get married. Also, with these cars you have to have a DD. Gas is putting a hurting on eveyones wallet.
