    i raced a G.C. jeep srt8 today

two days ago my husband and i bought a 2007 jeep srt8, well tonigh we got my 98 ws6 out and raced, the jeep is a monster off the line, so i thought he would probally whip me pretty bad, we do alot of drag racing and we have a quater mile marked off by our house, well he got me off the line, and i spun a little then hooked up, it was a good race he beat me buy about one and and a half car lengths . mike was using the g tech and it showed 13.4 quater mile time for the jeep. i was pretty happy with the times seeing that our elevation isnt all that great for turning fast times around here.with slicks i think it would have been a really close race. any way it was alota fun

That is a close race for sure. The AWD helps that Jeep launch, eh?
So, can you give me an answer for how that g tech knows when a quarter mile is up? I've wondered that for a while now....

Alright does anybody know how those things know the quarter mile/0-60? Is it thru GPS? Or are all y'all gonna make me actually do some research?

The non-GPS based G-Techs use an accelerometer to measure your acceleration. If you measure your acceleration frequently enough, you can calculate how fast you are going and how far you've traveled. Simple math.

thanks for the comments, my car is stock except for a lid, i think the car is starting to run really good, when we bought it last month it only had 9000 miles on it, and we took it to the strip and it only turned a 14.1 i was really dissapointed. but we ran a new tank of gas through it. and it really seems to be running alot stronger, we also have a cts-v and i raced my hubby in it and he was about 2 and a half cars ahead of me, and the ctsv runs a 13.2 quater mile. were going to take our cars to the strip this weekend so ill be exited to see what we run

So what's the elevation there? My (sold) '98 TA with AT and 2.73 gears ran high 13s @ 100-103 MPH with only a lid. Your WS6 should be mid 13s @ 104-106 anyway....our elevation is less than 1,000.

they are really fast for a suv....i was on my cbr954 with my g/f at a stop light and i told her to hold on cause i'm not sure whats going to happen when the light turns green and i got on it whatever i could do with a passenger since it slows the bike tons since the front wheel doesnt stay on the ground anything under 80mph but even so the jeep put over a car on me by 15mph and i never got it back untill like 70.. i let off since i had my gf on the back. even though i woulda killed it if i was alone i thought it was amazing that it could keep up with me with 2 people. i need to talk my mom into getting one

Must be the difference between AWD hook up and the Trailblazers extra weight. They both make about 400 HP, right? SRT-8 420 and the TB 400. Does anyone know if the TB weighs more?
What was the trap speed on the Jeep, WS6-girl?
