I need a driver mod...
Raced a friend from work in his 03 gt 5 speed which has as far as i know flowmaster 40 series i do believe, bassani orx or orh (not sure), and 3.73's
I have a 99 T/A (just bought 2 weeks ago today) m6 in which this is my first dd stick since 03, and i am completely stock except for slp lid w/ cold air, and a cutout, I do believe I have a bad maf so that might be a big part of the problem.
First run idk what gear hes in but im in 2nd between 2-3k rpm goin about 40, we both take off about the same time, shifted into 3rd at about 5k, and at this time im about 1/2 a car behind, i gave up bc i was afraid there were cops around being that it was after midnight and theres a bar right down the road, second run basically the same thing, it was fun but I think I need to get better at shifting and knowing when to shift etc as well as get a maf

damn nobody loses to a 2v gt!!!
and shift around 5600 ish. it'll rev to 6000 but i find it makes better times shifting a little lower. (if it has the stock cam)

ya, completely stock except for cai and cutout, i was nervous too, id rather be at the track, i need a maf in a bad way, should be here tomorrow

You shouldn't be shifting at 5k. There's more left in it than that.

get a shift light, seriously just don't get a ricey one... they're a god send our factory tach is shit and very inacurate I have mine in my A pillar defrost vent hole... you don't know its there until it shines up.
He does also have gears which does help a remarkable amount...

I might look into it, but for right now I wanna get rid of my screwed up maf so I stop having the hesitation I'm having between 2-2500 rpm under light to medium acceleration, driving me friggin crazy, and I know it can't be good for the car, I ordered a stock one from LSx heaven on here for 50 bucks shipped and they gurantee it works, Ive only had the car for 2 weeks now and ive spent $562 for plugs/wires/fuel filter/cutout/and slp lid w/cold air/k&n filter, and headlight pivot bolts, but enough about the stuff now that I feel like John Madden and talked about something totally irrelevant, I'd also rather race on a track where there would be no traffic/side streets/turns/or cops just tryin to be smart and safe, and according to my friend who has an 02 z28 he thinks I should walk the gt with a new maf, his z28 is an m4 w/ slp cai/smooth bellows/and lm and beats em like theyre tied to a tree but idk how many of the have gears either, now that ive typed a novel sorry so long

you should of been in first then slammed it to the floor shifted at 5800 into second slam it to the floor then about 5500 into 3rd

WOW yea you need some lessons or your car is seriously Jacked. My DD 95 eclipse GS-T will kill a 2v, and I did that with a bad head gasket lol. Time to give that ride a full look over man.

440 rwhp= far from stock.
Double valve springs and titanium keepers prevent the valve floating at high rpm, I also cross drilled the rocker cups to keep oil flowing.

A big part of it was I really wasn't ready to race him (I know, sounds like an excuse), but it was really just to shut him up that and like I said above the road we were on had too many side streets and theres usually a cop sitting where we were comin up on, so I just played it safe and just went from 2nd to 3rd, idk if you can even really call it a race being that I really wasn't trying, but anyhow now that I look back at it I shouldn't have done it bc now hes gonna keep talkin, and no joke my maf is really fuckin my shit up, almost feels like the fuel is being cut off so thatll help alot

Sounds like you guys need to take it to the track and run a full quarter mile -- with a decent launch and shifting around 5,600 rpm you should take him pretty easily.

we'll prolly go to the 1/8th mile soon, still waiting on my maf tho....
