    Talking First Stang.....and second!

cruisin around with three friends the other night after a car show i stop for gas at some hess near a highway where they pump it for you and hopped in line. i did notice a very fresh '07 Mustang GT parked. a few seconds later the owner comes out staring me down, hops in his car, and starts kickin his clearly[from the sound] modded pony. before he even gets to the exit i had hopped out of line and was right up his ass. he took off burnin rubber and i went right after him [still bone stock and still with 3 passengers averaging probably about 190 each] blew by him hittin 60 and once i was up at about 120 i had 2, maybe 3 lengths on him. he backed off so i slowed and continued on...

now this second one pumped me up because i know it shouldnt have happened...i pull up next to a light next this gorgeous black [also '07] Shelby GT500 and theres this nice little stretch of about a half of a mile until theres any other roads, cars, or any sort of reason to slow down... so we go at the light. right from the go i was putting him away and once i had a full car he backed off

    ....fun night!

yes they are 500hp flywheel stock. But they are heavy as hell - like 3900 lbs i think. They aren't as fast as a 500hp LS1. But still, stock for stock he should've beat you pretty good. The driver probably just got it and can't drive for shit.

You sure it was a GT500? It coulda been like a "Rouche Stage1" which is just a body kit...

They "peak" at 500-HP, but they're rear wheel average is still questionable. Combine that with it's weight disadvantage = not too impressive...

hahaha kinda reminds me of how I was when I first got the SS, I still can't drive it to the extent I want to. I guess it takes time and patience.

I've had my SS m6 vert for about 8months now and I'm still getting used to it. I want to push it to the limit without breaking stuff and be able to control it at the same time. Power and control in our cars is something hard to balance at first because the power will show you who's bigger when you don't have all the experience required. those gt500s have to be faster than our cars simply because the regular gts can keep up with us on just 300hp. I figure none of the gt500 drivers know what they're doing yet.

kinda reminds me of my first night as soon as I got back to chattanooga with my ss my girl beat me in her gt. I wasn't racing till I saw she was trying to. You know how that is... I've been ready since and I smack that ass every time! afterwards we just go

Don't sleep on the Shelby GT500s......stock they dyno around 440rwhp and I saw one dynoed a few weeks ago w/ a pulley, cold air and a tune and it picked up 140+rwhp so it was making about 580+ to the tires. Those things have waaaaay more potential than 03/04 cobras.

Are you serious?? Only a pulley, CAI, and tune? Not even exhaust??

    As we all know,
the part about having three passengers is a very important thing.
A friend of mine had the same in his 97 ss and just barely handled a mid 1990's mustang with only the driver in it. The owner of the mustang then wanted to come back with his slicks on. This was about seven years ago and my friend was young, but I let him know, don't ever run anyone with passengers
    along for the ride.

Yeah I'm serious....apparently they left a lot of timing and ability to tune on the table in its stock configuration. The guy paid $1500 for all the above w/ labor. I'd say that was a great return on his investment.

hey, nice races, but they sound kinda hard to fathom. a new style mustang gt stock for the most part is a drivers race for stock f-bodies. also, are you sure that was a gt500. he woulda taken you especially if your stock and were loaded down with three friends. not calling bs, just sayin that the gt500s are fast, same as the 03-04 cobra.

My boss owns two new Mustangs. An 05 & an 06. I have no problem beating either of them and we are both talented drivers. It aint' no drivers race.
