First kill!! :)
Johnson City, TN. I'm cruising down 67 on my way home to NC, and this little Acura RSX comes rolling by me... giant wing, coffee can, the whole nine yards...and guns his engine at me, then laughs as he pulls away.
Oh, NO I think not!
Next stoplight, I pull up, and give him a nose-length in head start. Drop the car down in first gear (automatic, mind you...), and wait for the light to change. No one in front of us. No cops around. Light turns green...I iz GONE. He was a car length off my right quarter panel and stayed there til I hit 70. Poor shmuck never saw it comin'...
...and I did it in my bone-stock, 157k mile 3.4 V6.1983 T/A 305 4BBL...SOLD!

Makes it even sweeter that I stomped him in a V6...just wonder if HE knew that. My poor little 3.4 is the most ragged out of my Birds...probably just figured he had an easy target. But my little Ellie is just a tank and she will boogie if you make her...for what she is, anyway.
And after I showed him my Bird...I showed him my bird.

^The 3.4s make in the neighborhood of 165 hp stock, the RSX assuming it wasnt a type S make 160 hp. Should have been a drivers race, for them to win is impressive and reason to brag. Dont be a dick.

Why is it ricers always brag about the v8 they beat but when they lose, it's all about how it's no surprise because your engine is bigger!?!..
Sounds like racing with no dirrection and no fun to me..
Kinda ghey.....

Nice kill. No need to manual "shift" your auto tho.

Thanks, guys!! I got more cheers here than on my V6 forum. Nice to see even the big guys can appreciate the smaller motors on a fair kill.

Does'nt really matter the f-body 3.4l OHV (auto) has 1st gear kickout..
Even with the sifter in 1st it will shift to second anyway..
This is done to save the trany from overly high revs in 1st gear..
....And yes it is somettimes nessasary to shift an automatic 660 powered car..
Factory "drive" settings don't allow for 60*v6 rpms that can easily exceed 7k all day..
ALL 660 factory autos are setup to shift way too soon to save the tranny's..
Some even have a "free rev" limiter of 3k rpm when the tranny is in park..Last edited by Smittro; 02-04-2011 at 03:47 AM.

^^^ I agree.
People who say manually shifting an AT transmission that has factory programming won't help anything don't know what they are saying.

Good kill OP
i have been seeing a POS civic thats rediculously riced out running around here in norman lately. he is always revving up and making an ass out of himself. i ended up next to him cruising and he tried to race me in the same fashion as the rsx only i gave him a little sideways second gear action to shut him up

Imho
One of the biggest screw ups on the GM 60*-v6 (660) was made when they went to obdII sequental injection.. The older Multi Ports are notorious for making power over the curve.. When the sequentials and OBDII cars were released they all of a sudden had softer valve springs and would start to float out @ ~6400rpm, and a fuel cut limiter above that @ ~6700rpm. On top of that, they added a "U" shaped UI (f-body 3.4) that has runners smaller than the intake ports on the heads. = Huge restriction that can't be overcome by CAI add ons.. This just added to the stereotypes.. Reliablity actually went down with the added the "new" tech.. Carbed and Multiport 660's are well known to be able to go well above 7k rpm.. Infact the OBDI cars with a stage three hypertech and/or a custom chip burning are well known to have seen 8k rpms all day.. Remember we are talking about engines that have REAL forged internals (con rods) in an iron block not that powdered shit you find in these pot metal engines today. The 60* "V" angle is near perfect for very true balancing as well.. Now, of course, it's a small displacement 6 not known for it's hp numbers. Yes they are slow stock but there are so many factory combos and interchangeable parts from one engine to the next many are building hybrids (NOT electric of flex fuel crap).. For example some even have had Mcclearon(sp) turbos during production (3.1 Turbo grand prix from the early 90-91). Combos have included 3.1/3.4 hybrids, 3.4/3500 hybrid and so forth.. Yeah it's surely not a v8, but then it's not supposed to be either..
Whatever your choice in car hobbies 4,6,8,10,12 or whatever the idea is for it to be fun.. Jerkin' eachothers chains is all part of the gearhead lifestyle..
Especially if you have anything smaller than a v8..Last edited by Smittro; 02-05-2011 at 07:24 AM.

The 3.8 V6 isn't anything to rag on, either. That makes 200hp, and those can be made up MEAN.
