Bright Red- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
Exhaust fell off, then I whooped a C5, lol
Darn cold this morning, but I decided I wanted to drive the Camaro into work for a change.
Not even 5 miles from home I blast the throttle and car goes, like it should, then a sudden LOUDNESS from an open exhaust is immediately followed by the sound of steel being dragged down the street behind me...
I stopped and unhooked the muffler from the rubber hanger and put it in the hatch of the car. It seems for whatever reason I never re-torqued the exhaust clamps when I put my new single in/single out catback on, so now I was running no muffler at all, lol...JetHot longtubes, JetHot ORY and Dynomax I pipe, and that was it...
It was only 6am so I tried to continue driving into work as QUIETLY as was possible....which wasn't very quiet, lol...
I get about a mile from work and see a nice silver or gray C5, looked like some aftermarket wheels but no idea whether exhaust was modded since I didn't hear anything but myself at that point. I casually cruise by him and he chose to pull out from behind the car he was following and follow me instead. I saw the redlight up ahead and moved over so he could get alongside of me on the left...same side as my newly open exhaust faced.. Light turns green and we both ease away from the stop, then I see his car squat so I floored mine, and pretty easily walked the dog on him...He hung with me for all of 2 seconds. Once I got about 4-5 cars ahead he conceded and let off...
I can't help but wonder how his poor ears are doing....lol...2002 Silverado Z71 ECSB HPTuners tuned by yours truly

Nice Kill. Yeah I had my muffler off for a couple of weeks during the summer and it sounded like something God would drive at startup. I loved it but it was just to loud for driving in town.

lol good kill, having your muffler fall off sucks! My weld broke on mine whenever I went over some Railroad tracks. Had to take it off and run Lts w. no cats into a straight pipe, It was loud.

In all honesty, I hated it being that loud...After I "fixed" it at work, the car was almost silent, and here's what it really sounds like:
(which really isn't all that quiet, lol)

Light Pewter Metallic- 2001 Camaro SS
Car sounded good...
But I am still partial to ear bleeding, neighbor angering, earth rumbling, Ford stomping, ricer eating, All American Growl, that these beasts are capable of releasing...
But thats just me...-Nick

That is a FORCE Pro-Series 3" muffler. A very cost effective alternative to a 40 series/2 chamber Flowmaster....at half the price.

Here's a thread I had made about the whole catback.
Got tired of being teased about running my stock catback, and probably choking off some horsepower, so I finally swapped it out. Keep in mind I already had a Borla adjustable and a Magnaflow...didn't like the sound of either, so stuck with the stocker for most of the Summer. Ironically, the new setup sounds damn near identical to the Magnaflow, lol...Maybe the new setup will free up a tenth or so. Car went 11.67@115 with stock catback FWIW.
I pieced it together for about 175 bucks total and the car actually "feels" better at most any rpm when driving.
Parts used:
$54.39 Dynomax #54064 I pipe
$66.39 Dynomax #53061 over axle pipe
$25.00 Force Pro-Series 3" chambered muffler (new, but secondhand)
$21.98 Riker 3" 90* elbow
$18.98 Riker 3" turndown spout
Five 3" Stainless steel band clamps (already had)
I did have to make/weld a hanger onto "tailpipe", but was able to use stock rubber hanger. I need to figure out how to keep exhaust from "moving"...It sort of moved around with stock catback as well. It doesn't hit anything, but in last video, you'll see what I mean by "move", lol.
Here's a couple quick videos...
One of car idling and revved, a couple others taken in-car, and another quick warm idle vid...

Just a baby...................with some extra lift.
226/226 .595/.595" lift 112lsa
It is a CompCams "Custom grind" that was spec'd and ground several years ago, but is very similar to the Patriot cam made now. It's been in at least 3 other cars as a sort of "Starter Cam", lol....It seems to work well in A4 cars with stock heads, and that's all it's been in so far. Sooner or Later I'll probably hand it down to yet another A4 running guy or girl...
