c6 question
hey fellows been away for a while college started up again i have a quick question though buddie just picked up a 06 c6, auto with paddle shifters didn't even know they had them in vettes. i don't think ill ever run him b/c he can't drive not to dis my him but he can't, but how does a stock 99 ss do against a c6 and what type of race am i looking at if i ran my 99 ss up against him mods in sig. i don't think i would need the bottle more of a ego thing then anything else would want to run him motor to motor. (sorry hate to bench race just wanted to get it out of my mind)

BLACK- 2000 Camaro SS
I vote SS.
3600 lb. SS with approx. 480 crank hp. (based on 410 rwhp)
vs.
3300 lb. C6 with 400 crank hp.
SS has better lb/hp numbers.

You werent being serious were you? The ls2 doesnt make that much more power than the ls1, with headers exhaust and a lid im made almost 340rwhp, which is right around what a ls2 car makes. The vette is lighter than my car, the GTO is heavier, now what you really have to watch out for is the new ls2 solstice, a 2500lb car with 400hp aint no joke.

thanks for the reply's. i was concerned about the ls2 in goats when it came out and there out of the box potential being just amazing, plus i couldn't find to much info about the gears and wieght of a c6 coupled with hearing they run 12.6:Ohno:. i know you guys will understand since he got his c6 his mouth has been runnin just as we all did when we got our own lsx. i am curious though as i was never aware that GM made paddle shifters and what type of performance does it provide or is like all other tip tronic systems out a la (porsche, lambo, and ferrari, that just suck and actually are more detrimental to performance than benificial) this what i here and my opinion. i always thought is was just to give the guy a feeling of driving a manual without having to have the talent of knowing your gears, shiftpoints, or how to work the clutch, ohh and i don't know if it was conceled in my post before but my intention is to run the c6 without the bottle if it ever happens

There was a thread somewhere about a f-body running a stock c-6, forgot the mods on the f-body but there was a lot of talkin and no racing as always but someone else posted vids of them running a modded f-body in thier stock c-6....The vette smoked him every time...from different roll speeds and I think there was one from a dig. I think you have more power than that f-body but still....Do your shit talkin AFTER you run him..lol.

The C6 Vette's are quick stock. I think it'll be a really close race as long as he leaves the auto do it's thing and not screw it up by trying to shift it. I drove a M6 Z51 C6 and it was a great ride and would beat my T/A easy although I don't have much for power mods. I'd give the SS the edge seeing it has a really good whp number.

i bet you'd take him. i'v drivin numerous c6 a6's and there fast but you got better hp/weight ratios and assuming that you can drive well. i personally think that leaving it in drive is just as good as shifing them with the paddles. that 6l80e is great

The A6 gears is a 2.56 and weighs between 3180-3200, depending on if its a coupe or convertible. From what Ive heard, the paddle shifter in the Vette is ten times better than the MB, BMW, etc. But with those low gears and you said he doesnt know how to dirve, I would say you have the edge over him. Just watch out for those '08s with the LS3 though.
