6.4 liter hemi?
Im not sure if it's in the right forum, but I just read yesterday how the new hemi coming out soon will be a 6.4 liter with 450 hp for the charger/ and i guess challenger soon. How do you guys think we'll do? Thats about 25 more horses than the challenger has now I believe (srt8?)

The 525hp, 550 if carburated, 6.4l has been for sale for years as a crate engine. Mopar sells all the upgrade to convert the 5.7 and 6.1 to the 6.4l and 7.0l 426 in the Mopar catalog. Contrary to popular belief of the lack of performance upgrades to the R/T and SRT, Mopar sells pretty much everything you need or want in house. It's just that Mopar doesn't advertise it.

The Jeep will get the 6.4L too. It should be ~500hp when it "finally" debuts. The updated Challenger, Charger and 300 should be out soon. For some reason only a couple of spy shots have been taken so far.

Black- 99 WS.6 - Modified
I agree, it will be interesting to see how they do. I do know that they push a decent amount of weight in those cars too though. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I personally have always been a fan of Mopar, so I kinda hope that they do produce a killer round of cars. Unfortunately, that is going to affect my wallet more than I would like as well - as in I will either have to purchase one of these said cars, or depending on the level of performance of said cars - I will have to mod mine to compete.

I don't care how heavy/slow the challengers are, they still look great.

+2, but once the SRT-8s have the power bump, maybe then they will have a reason to be priced so high

Lol not likely, there is alot more to a performance car these days than power. The srt-8 cars perform the worst in every performance category when compared to the camaro and stang and cost more. The challenger is badass looking no argument there but past that you get an dash config that looks like its out of the srt-4 caliber and the worst performance out of the big 3s sub 45k rwd v8 cars.

I know which one I'd rather have, that's for sure, but at least if it was producing power in the neighborhood of the GT500; they could justify its proximity in price to the Shelby, you know?

At least the asking price would make more sense

If the new 6.4 only has 450hp, Chrysler is stupid, since they already have a 525hp 6.4 (392) available as a complete fuel-injected crate engine http://www.mopar.com/performance/mus...nes/index.html. If they drop the power level that much to put it in a production car, they're out of their mind!

Gm sells 3 ls3 6.2 liter crate engines 430hp- production, 480hp and 515hp. The actual production cars use the weakest one. You need to keep in mind prodcution car engines have alot more restrictions to meet than a crate engine because a crate engine literally has no restriction as to what gm or chrysler can do to it.

True. I understand why they don't offer the 515hp in the production cars, because it is carbureted. But good point on the cammed 480hp version. hopefully if Dodge goes with the 6.4, they do the same thing as GM, and only subtract 50hp from the hot fuel-injected crate 392 when they put it into the production cars. Then the SRT-8s would still gain another 50hp, for a grand total of 475. I would still like to see them bring it to market with at least 500 horsepower though, especially with the weight those cars are packing.
