2002 Z28 vs. WRX sti
so this guy is riding my ass and we finally get an opening on the highway. he pulls up next to me and this thing sounds mean as hell. it has shoepolished track numbers on it with exhaust and gauges up his A- pillar. I thought i was gonna get my ass wasted. from a 70 punch he hit it and then i did. we hung for maybe a second then i pulled away. i shut down at 130 and had about 2 cars on him. whats cool is i've got a new exhaust thats quiet and my car was filthy cuz of the weather lately and when i hit 4th gear i actually looked out my window back at him and he had this look on his face. he was cool and after i shut down he went on by giving me a thumbs up and we went on our way. good race, i was actually suprised by the outcome tho.

Stock those things run low to flat 13 second 1/4's so it was mostly a driver's race.

i went with the LT stainless headers from ebay with a pacesetter ypipe, deleted the cats into a magnaflow crossflow muffler. i had 2 cutouts installed after each header. the whole system is a hell of a lot quieter than i figured it would be. i like it tho, cuz its kind of a sleeper but if i wanted too i could still set off car alarms

People don't realize that those cars really aren't all that fast. They only run low 13's because they have AWD and can launch hard. If you look at their trap speeds, its only 100MPH.
Stock for stock an LS1 will walk all over an STI from any roll, they only put down 230WHP stock. Not impressive at all.

Hey Hey Ive Been Saying This For Ever...but Every Time I Say This Same Remark I Get Some One To Say----hey Dont Mess With Ricers They Can Run 650 Awhp With 30 Psi.......but I Agree With You Wesman

Ricer love saying that crap. All they talk about it "turnin up the boost". Boost isn't magic, you can't just push tons of boost without consequences. First of all you need racing fuel, and pushing tons of boost on any motor will significantly shorten the life of the motor. I don't care what kind of internals you have or what the C/R is, thats a lot of stress on the motor.
So when your Evo motor is totally shot at 100K miles and my N/A V8 is still running strong, I'll be the last one laughing.

Well that 230whp can pull some pretty damn good times. They weigh a good 200-300 lbs less than an LS1 Camaro. 103+ traps is not too far off from an LS1 trap of what 105-106?. I'm not impressed either, and now all of a sudden real muscle is roll racing? Please. Even Road and Track who drive their cars conservatively pulled a 13.3@103.3.

AGREED...BUT..ive also heard all over the place getting a good launch in an sti/evo requires a near redline launch beating the shit out of the car....have to boil up that boost there fella........raced a very NON stock eclipse gsx in my 99 stock z28 a few yrs back.....from a roll it seemed he pulled on me thru second........we got to a light ......he claimed to be pushing 350 plus to the wheels..claimed to beat several c5 vettes and so on......light turned greeen and i doored him off the line ......he stayed exactly 2 cars back to the top of 3rd ( bout 105) then the rd went to one lane......like i said..have to beat on a turbo awd car to get a good launch....

Let me guess, you drive an STI
First off, the numbers you posted for the STI are very optomistic. They trap at approximately 100-101MPH, 103MPH is extremely rare. They also don't run 4.5 0-60 or 13.0 flat 1/4 miles, more like 4.8 to 60 and 13.4 1/4 mile times. Somebody obviously put in the wrong correction factor on that test...
Also, since your obviously clueless, 98-02 F-Bodies don't weigh 300lbs more than an STI. My 98 T/A weighs in at 3450lbs, and an STI weighs in at 3351lbs. Thats a 99lb difference, lay off the drugs
An and for the record, M6 LS1's trap at 106-108MPH stock. Thats between 6 and 8MPH more than an STI. Stop trying to make it look like the STI is close, its a joke from anything other than a dig.

teal- 99 Z28 with an SS complex
well sure the peak power in the camaro is higher but it also has a higher power curve, the torque on an sti has to build up. Also the ss raises in hp faster than an sti.
I just raised my buddies sti the other and he had full exhaust, bov, pulley and some other things and i blew him out on a roll.

yea 650 RWHP is not attainable with 30 psi on a stock sti block, you have to modify the shit out of it, aka cams, fuel system, larger turbo ..... and then youre testing the strentgh of the block
