02 WS6 vs 00 Corvette

I have a 2002 WS6 auto with a 3500 stall, 3.73 gears, full bolt ons, and a tune. The 2000 corvette has a cold air intake and is an auto. He is cocky that he could beat me. He says that since he has a corvette i cant take him. He said that he would put a grand down on the race. So do you think i should do it? I think ill stomp him but what do you think? If by chance he has a stall and gears, would i still take him? He doesnt have them but just wondering.

if hes stalled and geared with his lighter weight, he very well can beat you.

...are you sure that's it for his mods?

I mean...he's got to know that he has the same engine as you, and you obviously have more work done. The only thing he's got going for him there is a weight advantage.

If he's willing to put that much money down, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he does have a 150 shot hidden somewhere, or at least a stall, and when he spanks you, "What can I say, man? I told you it was a vette."

Of course there are plenty of cocky, unintelligent vette owners out there who think they're driving God's personal grocery getter everytime they get behind the wheel...but I still personally wouldn't trust him without looking over the car myself first.

Ask him to pop the hood and look in his engine bay, then ask if he installed the intake himself or if he payed someone to do it-you ca see where i'm going. Finally get on your belly and look under his car, you'll be able to tell if he's about to pay for your heads and cam upgrade.

i have seen under the hood and has nothing else than the cold air intake. it is quiet and looks like stock exhaust. he just got it not too long ago. one of my friends drove it and said it hooks and pulls in first, after that its nothing special. he says his mach1 will probly keep up with it. my friend said he wants to race and keeps egging him on about it. he told my friend the he will win because he has a vette. my friend told him that he doesnt know me or know what i have done to the car, but he said it doesnt matter he will win cause of the vette. he asked if he was willing to put money on it and he said "hell ya ill throw a grand down if he wants to"

Do you have sticky tires with that stall? If you can catch traction you should rape him like a caged gorilla. I would also check out his rear tires too, I always look to see if my opponent has drag radials. Rape him and take his money and video tape the thing.

nope no radials just the same size street tires that are on mine. 275s

Well brother, I cant imagine you catching traction with your stall+3:73's+street tires.. But I could be wrong I guess. He will probably hook up alot better from a dead stop and you will have to play catch up if you spin. Or would you race from a roll? From a dead stop, I wouldnt bet money unless you get some drag radials first. Just my opinion though.

Check the bolts on the tranny and see if someone has taken it out for a stall.
Most corvette owners are like this, but he could be using that to his advantage.If you have 1k to blow then do it to it. lol

I don't know about betting a grand on a single race. Maybe a best 2 out of 3. You could smoke the tires or something and blow that 1000 bucks.

Just to show what kind of tools some people are when I had my 79 vette all stock I had several people that thought it would be faster than my 01 T/A just because it was a vette. I'm like are you serious and laughed and they were always surprised when I told them it was slow. To some people just having the name Corvette on it will make it faster no matter what you tell them.

i'll invest in some insurance. If he "really doesn't know what he's talking about", i'll get drag radials (dark he won't b able to tell), and a small shot of giggle gas , just in case, if u have time!

He could have 2.73 gears or 3.15's, 2.73's you got him, 3.15 and you better launch well.

the chicken s@#% sold the car. but he told my friend that it had 500hp and ran 12 flat stock but all he had was a cold air intake with highway gears on a base LS1 vette. i wish i would have been there when he said that.

Always remember that talk is cheap... I have a friend that has a built Olds Cutlass....It is pretty quick and he's always claiming that he could beat people, but it's hard to get him to race.. Like the ole saying "put up or shut up" anyone can talk smack, I prefer to see someone prove themselves..
