we run from about 25-120 and i pulled him about 2 car lengths, but i was thinking it was going to be more than that. i guess i will see the biggest difference from a dig as long as i can hook which has been a problem lol

My bolt-on car rapes a friends stock m6 from a dig, from 50mph though I don't even get the jump. You pulling on him that far with 2.73's makes me

+1 He should take you from a roll with those mods since your damn near equal. From a dig you should have him all day. M6's do better then A4's from a roll and A4's do better from a dig then M6's. You two are damn near equal mods

Does it really do that much at a 25mph roll?

It will keep those rpms up in the deadspot from the 1-2 shift

What deadsport would you be at when your at full throttle, rpms wouldnt go below 4,000 anyway.

You are right, and I'm not even sure how people came to the conclusion of autos having dead spots.
About the only thing that sucks with the 4L60 is the huge gear spread from the 1-2. 3.06 down to 1.63. With a decent stall, although the rpms won't drop far (probably 4,000 like you said) they might hover around there a little longer than on the 2-3 shift.
If you happen to be rolling above ~42/43 mph the computer won't go back to first gear anyway, and it'll be second gear up to about 80 mph with 3.23 rear gears. About when a race is already decided anyway. Either way it's not going to matter that much what speed you pick.

I'm not really surprised the auto pulled a similar modded 6 speed car.

On a stock stall my car's rpm's are well below 4000rpm once it shifts to second gear.

I think he is referring to the original poster that mentioned he has a 3600 stall.

a stall makes up for your gearing to a certain point.

Exactly, stalled auto > M6 with similar mods anyday. You need gears to go with that and it would have been worse. Felt lagging when I still had the 2.73's after the stall (installed the 9" and 4.10's a week later), made so much difference with the gears although from a dig traction was nonexistant even starting from 2nd gear.

With my 3600 stall as soon as I went WOT, RPM's never dropped below 4000 and with 2.73's shift from 2-3 is a tad over 100.

Now guys lets not start another auto vs manual thread. the mods will just lock this up. Its personal pref some people like to grab clutch and slam gears and some people are lazy.
