What kind of sound are you looking for? Do you just want it louder to hear over the road or do you want some more bass?

I have a pioneer head unit with coaxials front and back running off the head unit. It is just loud enough to hear over the noise. I have a 10" sub in the trunk but you don't really here it with the top down. If you need a little more sound an amp would work great. I had an 88 vert with just 4x6's in the dash and 6 1/2 components in the rear with an amp. It was louder than what I have now and much clearer.

You should get some good sound out of that. If you are going nitrous too I would go with just one sub, that way you have plenty of room for the bottle. You would also be able to run just one amp that can power all speakers. My old car had 2 12" but with the top down you couldnt hear them that great.

I replaced all the speakers with Boston Acoustics, put in a new head unit, and a Rockford 10" in the trunk. I can finally hear the stereo

Blue 1997 Trans Am(Sold)- Pewter 2001 Trans Am Vert
Zboner I don't know what location if you have planned for your N20 bottles but I intend on replacing my backseat with a pair of 10's in a formed box... rather then use up my trunk space since I use it for many things... besides I'm tall and hate giving people rides in the backseat so I ripped them out for that reason alone... excellent place for two subs in my opinion...

i have a alpine head unit with 2 alpine amps in the trunk, they are pushing jl audio 6 1/2 in the rear and 6 1/2 in the doors with tweeters on my a pillars. i had a custom isoberic box built for a jl audio 10" sub in the trunk. it sounds real clear and loud even with the top down going 120!

Red+White Top and Stripes- 2000TransAmConvertible A4
My System
I have a Pioneer N4 head unit, Pioneer TS-D1720C 6.75 inch components in the front, and Pioneer TS-A1672R 6.5 inch shallow mount speakers in the back, and an Orion Cobalt series 600. 4 channel amp. No subs. The rear speaker shallow mount area really doesn't give you many options. It thumps pretty good, and has much better clarity than stock. The amp is mounted under the convertible top area and clears the rear glass without touching it. I still have all my trunk space.
Personally I am strongly against the whole rear seat delete thing, and the whole thing about taking up an entire trunk area sounds ridiculous. But that's just my opinion, don't mind me. Of course mine is a daily driver and I give rides to people all the time and carry stuff all the time so I need the rear seats and trunk space.FAST 90/90, SLP Lid, Kooks JetHot Coated LT's, American Racing Y-Pipe+Magnaflow Cats, DHM Electric Cutout, Flowmaster American Thunder Catback, HP Tuners Software, 343 rwhp.
