Pewter Metallic- 2002 Firebird Formula
2002 Firebird Formula
One of the just 900 Formulas made in their final year. Low miles - just turned 95,000. Bought brand-new in Oct. 2001, I am the only owner. I've always used Mobile-1 full synthetic oil.
Just had another full-synthetic oil change done on 3/5/11. All NEW headlights installed in January. Complete engine/transmission flush was performed in early 2010. Brand new wipers. Brand NEW brake pads & rotors installed on 3/19/11.
The car only needs at least 2 new tires and a new catalytic converter. There's also an O2 sensor that periodically sticks, but I understand this is a common and simple repair. Car currently has Kumho Ecsta tires on it. They're cheaper, quieter, and better on wet roads than the Goodyear tires that came on these cars. Everything else is working as well as the day I brought it home!
Some specs:
- 5.7L LS1 V8 engine
- 4-spd automatic transmission
- Observed fuel economy: approx. 17 city / 23 hwy
- AM/FM/CD stereo with 10-speaker Monsoon sound
- K&N Air filter
- Magnaflow dual catback exhaust
- Power steering
- Driver & passenger side airbags
- Power driver's seat
- Folding rear seats
- Cruise control
- A/C and heat both work perfectly
- Keyless entry/theft deterrent system (installed at factory)
- 4-wheel Antilock brakes
- Power mirrors
- Power antenna
- Fog lights
- T-tops
It's been driven with care, NEVER raced, and has only been in one fairly minor accident, this past December. The front passenger fender, suspension and axle had to be replaced and the rear passenger fender was repaired. ALL PARTS were replaced with factory GM parts, NO aftermarkets or generics. I can prove this with paperwork from the body shop if needed.
I also have a set of the quality-made "Last of the Breed 1967-2002" badges that I bought online and have never put them on the car. I will attach a photo of one below. I will include these with the car.
Price is $9000 firm, and below KBB value. Dealers are trying to sell these for $12-13K. I do have another car to buy. This car is definitely worth it, whether you're after something purely for fun, or as a daily driver!
Many photos available upon request. Please email me to set up a meeting or get specs, pics & more info. I'm pretty busy these days and I don't get to check LS1.com forums as much as I used to.

So that you know, the warranty on your cat was extended by GM. Not all dealerships are aware of this. Have your local dealer look up Subject: 05513 - SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT - CATALYTIC CONVERTER EXTENDED WARRANTY .
Cheers!

Interesting!! Hadn't heard that, although I do remember some noise being made a few years ago about the cats. I'll do that, thanks!
(Car's still available, btw)

Details, details
UPDATE: Got the right cat replaced for free at my GM dealer, no questions asked once I showed them the warranty code. However the check engine light has come back on in the days since, and the engine acts like it's not getting enough air. Hesistates at a stop when I step on the gas, and even sputters a bit if I'm inching forward at a stoplight/drive thru, etc. Gonna get the code read tonight. Again.
Grr.

Check engine light read "fuel mix too lean." Ran some injector cleaner thru the next tank of gas and everything's right as rain! :)
UPDATE: Price is lowered to $8500. I'm still willing to negotiate!

This thread rates pretty high in views, but there's no conversation -- if anybody's got any questions at all, feel free to PM me or ask them here. I'm able to check the site more often now than I was.
