tryin to learn about these cars
Im no stranger to cars, however everything I have ever worked with has been old school cars with carbs and such. Well my dad has a 93 Z28 which he will never get rid of and its getting to the point that it need new parts so I want to upgrade. My biggest problem is that its a 93 so it has an old computer with no mass air sensor. So im guessing upgrading will be tricky. I have been told to change outcomputers and stuff, but Im not sure whats all involved. Im not worried about getting dirty and doing work. So Any ideas of what I need to read or what I need to do?

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
I haven't had an LT1 for some time now but I do know that there are a few websites devoted to the 93 LT1 which is the only 4th gen which uses speed density (MAP or Manifold Absolute Pressure) instead of a mass airflow sensor (MAF). If I were you I'd do some web searching before you swap out the whole system. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I wouldnt try to add a MAF. If the system runs the engine then I'd leave it that way. If you put on 97 LT1 electronics on it, it probably won't run any faster. If you want more power, then do regular mods.

purple pearl metalic- 1994 Z28 Camaro
leave the computer, just start with the basic stuff that it needs and if you need to change anything that has to do with the computer there's a fair number of people that are able to take care of that on a speed density tune like the 93 needs

For a MAF swap, you will need a good working MAF sensor, 24lb. injectors being as the '93 year was equipped with 22lb. injectors, and a '94 & up PCM. My current '93 retains the original Speed Density and has only a few proven bolt-ons. It is tuned via a F.A.S.T By Ed Wright chip, one of the best in my opinion. I owned a purple-pearl '93 that had an 11:1 355, Big heads/cam and intake, and he burned a chip that worked flawlessly.
