Top Speed

I know a stock LS1 can top out at 163 in the M6.
Curious what can the LT1 top out at in an M6?

The fastest "legit" time i've ever came across was a top speed of 157-mph in an 1996 Z28 M6, tested by M/T.

That sounds about right. I think the estimated top-speed from a source I cannot remember put it at 159mph.

honestly it comes down to tire pressure, weight, windows up, altitude and wind direction/speed when you start talking triple digit plus.

you should be able to hit 155 in 5th in an lt1... 167 i thinkis the fastest ive seen on a stocker in 6th, just not enough room anywhere to let the horsies push faster... but techincally i think 6th at stock redline is like 216mph or something rediculous lol

What is governor set at for ZR rated tires 155-160mph? mine came 245/50/ZR16's factory option

standard equipment is 235/55/R16 and governors set low

i pegged it. on the interstate with 5 guys in it, yes 1 little guy was setting on the hump. coming back from a titty bar, at 3am. so give or take how much the factory speed-o is off and how far the peg is below 150.

I was riding with a buddy a few years ago in his 96 Z28 convertable with an automatic trans. It's a bone stocker with stock tune, speed limiter and all,,,,and when he hit 155 mph it started cutting out. Which I believe is typical with the speed limiter.

I checked the speed limiter on my 02 SS camaro convertable that is also an automatic and it was also set at 155 mph in the stock tune. My 6 speed LT1 also has a factory speed limiter setting of 155 mph. Guess they are all capable whether auto or manual. But I have no desire to try.

158 mph by GPS with a 1994 Z-28 A4 with 3.42 rear end. I was limited by drag.

These are all about right, I've heard of bolt-on ones doing 160+, they just take a bit longer to get there than the LS1's

A friend of mine had his (later my) auto Z28 reading over 140 on the speedo and still pulling, it had 3.73's and was not corrected though, so I would guess 130ish...
