You get what you pay for. Cheaper hoods look like shit, the finish is shit, the fit is shit.

www.certifit.com.... they do need a little work before paint, BUT.... I have had 3 of them on 3 diff cars, and after the work, they looked factory.

If you are seeing $1000, that's high. These go for $300 after tax. You can do ALOT of sanding for $700.........

What do you call a lot of work? I want a ram air hood for my car, and I was considering the suncoast hood and air box, but that's a grand. Do you know where a guy could get an airbox anywhere else besides suncoast?

Thay have some finish issues (pits & blemishes) some light Bondo/sand/priming is in order, and the price diff makes it worth it. IMHO

I don't like that style of hood, I like the stock ram air style for the early 4th gen. That's one reason why I won't own a 98+ WS6, I just don't like the hood, now the Firehawk styled hood is a different story.

    I used Ls1 style intake....

Note the GTA hoodlouvers I added, they are functional heat extractors, and give it a unique look.

I like the heat extractors. I don't know if I would use the LS style intake set up. For me it will have to be the LT1 style or no ram air at all. I am anal like that. Is that a certifit hood on your car?

Yes it is. The second one. (I forgot the hood pins one time on the first, and it cost me a hood and windshield. )

as for the air box, any reason for not wanting the LS style? Way cheaper, Way easier to locate, and flows just as well.

I am just anal about it being "correct" which really is kinda dumb on my part seeing as how my car is modded out. I don't see any pins on that hood. Do you have to have hood pins with the certifit hood?

No, they are factory correct. The story is the reason there are no pins on this hood.

I meant "correct" as in LT1 "correct". My goal is to make my car appear stock aside from the headers under the hood. Asthetically speaking, I like the appearance of the LT1 box better. If I have to run the LS1 box, that's fine, but I would rather have the LT1 box. I will not, however, put a ram air hood on without any box. To me, that's like a ricer putting a fart can on and thinking that somehow you have just improved the power output of your motor.

You said that you forgot the hood pins so it cost you a hood and a windshield, so I assumed you had put pins on it and I just didn't see them. I looked at your pics again and I see that you have no pins and that the hood uses all stock hardware. The reason why I asked is because I don't like pin on style hoods.

Sounds like he drove away forgetting to put the hood pins on and the hood flew into the windshield.

I have suncoast hoods on my 96 and 98. Ram Air on the 96, Raptor on the 98.

They have been great hoods and my body shops commented on how well they where made.

As for the LS1 style instake on LT1.. I did that on the 96 and saw a noticable difference. I posted about it on tech I'll see if I can find the thread.
