question about this car?

ok i got a 96 trans am , and right behind the trans am, NOT the trans am mount that goes across the back of the transmission, but about 1 ft behind that , is there supposed to be another bracket that goes across to hold the exhaust up or what? if so what is is called cause i can see where it used to be bolted and it not on there

Nope. I think the only thing that far back that holds the exhaust up are the two hangers right before the tailpipes exit the rear of the car.

There is a plate, it doesn't really hold anything up from what I have seen. I think its more of a protection plate than anything.
