Opti set up
Hey guys my cousin has a 95 ta and needs something called a opti I never heard or seen this set up before and Im glad it's not on my ls.
I can't seem to find one anywhere but dealer and the want $545 for the god dam thing. Is that just the opti or is that opti an coil pack? does anyone know some other way to get one cheaper or some kinda conversion to coil over. Any info you guys have is great

The part is called an optispark distributor. Google that and you'll come up with a lot of replacement options.

if anything from everything i have learned go with an OEM one! alot of people go through thepartsladi on ebay . she has the best prices that i have seen. trust me i have tried MSD's opti and once i fired the car up it was bad. now im not saying their's no issues with an OEM one but its very rare.

OEM isn't cheap though. I am in the same boat. OEM GM from Summit is $420. The Summit brand is $250, and th Accell is $260. Now that MSD is $525, way out of my price range. I was thinking of getting the Summit or Accel opti, but I don't have any idea if they are any good.

I use one on my 383. I have the summit one. Summit only has a 90 day return pollicy but sometimes you get luckey and other times you don't. The opti is an abortion of an invention. The price sucks total ass but that is why most guys don't mess with lt1's lol. Me, I love to be abused. Thats why I have an lt1. I have turned mine 6200rpms and it is dead on with no missing at all. I'd say go summit or jegs.

Most of the optis are just fine. As I've said before, I would guess that most "new" opti failures come from incorrect installs or there is some other problem on the car as well that is contributing.
